@garybernhardt@thorstenball docker on Mac has (used to have?) slow file io so large test suites took much longer to run. people created a bunch of tools like orb dev/colima to help. this was still true last time I checked in Jan.

@dunkhippo33 I also trained and got injured. If I were to try again, I’d approach it very differently:
* Supplement with with strength training around core, glutes, and hips
* Go much slower than feels necessary
* Pay attention to early warning signs instead of pushing through them
@lessin Narratives move faster than markets. Could they be correlated? Maybe. I do agree that the market is terrible because it's so competitive and it seems all the hyper scalers want a piece.
@craigkerstiens We already moved our database to CrunchyBridge. Any suggestions on where to take our dyno work for our rails app? I'm not in a rush but it is concerning.
I just watched the whole 60 Minutes segment on CECOT and Trump that was killed by Bari Weiss and… wow. It was devastating for Trump and highlighted how brutally this regime has treated people. Here are some notes I took:
@patrick_oshag I got a tour of the Valve office many years ago. Besides being extremely fun/amazing homage to their culture/games... the AR/VR prototypes that were sitting around were insane.
I hope everyone knows how impressive this is.
Could’ve easily stepped on 1B for the easy out then gone to 2B but Shohei most likely is safe.
The understanding of each runner and choosing to make a VERY difficult throw is unbelievably impressive
Product-market fit doesn't exist in AI the way it does in other markets.
Iñaki Berenguer, in his conversation with us, pointed out the fundamental problem: you can have PMF today, but in six months the market has completely changed. By definition, product-market fit means your product fits a particular market. But in AI, both the product and market keep shifting.
OpenAI and Anthropic keep launching new capabilities that obliterate what founders thought were defensible moats. You build something unique, validate that customers want it, then discover it's now included in ChatGPT's $20 plan.
This is why AI companies that looked unstoppable can become irrelevant quickly. Cursor might be approaching $1 billion in revenue, but switching costs are so low that they could be back to $100 million next year if something better emerges.
The traditional startup playbook assumes you find PMF and then scale it. But AI companies need to accept that PMF is temporary, not permanent. You're constantly re-finding fit as the underlying technology and competitive landscape evolves.
This changes how you think about building. You can't just optimize one wedge forever. You need to stay close to what's changing and be ready to pivot quickly when your current advantage disappears.

Political violence is contagious. It is spreading. It is not confined to one side or belief system. It should terrify us all.
The foundation of a free society is the ability to participate in it without fear of violence. Political violence is always an attack against us all. You have to be so blind not to see that.
