It’s been a while since I last posted about game time with Dookie Dash. Gaming with my daughter, who was 11 at the time and made it to the top alongside pro gamers, was such a fun time!

We just launched a small collection on the Base chain via Magic Eden. This is a project our small collective is incredibly proud of, despite the market nosediving yesterday, quite literally just hours before the launch. To make things even tougher, multiple reports came in about people being unable to mint in the first phase. Ever felt like swimming against the impossible? Yup, that was it!

When people look for momentum, we had none. But here we are, still standing; momentum is nothing without passion, and we collectively share a similar mindset. We also launched without securing any premint % for the team. Why did we choose to mint our own Dragons (not premint)? For two reasons:

1) Many teams secure a % for their team & marketing. We chose to do something different, to level the playing field by participating in our own collection, just like any other community member. It’s about fairness.

2) Why should others mint if you don’t believe in your own work? It’s the same as success in anything in RL; believe in yourself before others do. It’s a powerful mantra. I choose to believe in our small collective of brilliant artists and creative geniuses. I minted these little Dragons, featuring my daughter’s calligraphy, chosen by @ejthek_art in our team to symbolize the Year of the Dragon. It’s personal, supporting the collective and my young daughter combined.

Spotlight time: If you do a little DYOR, you’ll find our team members are well-established. Don’t mind yours truly, just a little nobody sitting in the south corner of the earth ;)

But back to the point...the team is entirely awesome artists and above all, beautiful human beings I'm humbled to work alongside with! They’ve been artists long before crypto art & PFP collections existed:

@ShinjiAkhirah (a brother from another mother) has worked with many global brands offline

@rutgervandertas, a brilliant artist with such a gentle soul, was named a Top 10 Crypto Artist in 2021

& The MVP of the Long Wei collection: @ejthek_art the multi-talented technical artist, meticulous with details and so much more. He’s not only a creative genius but also a low-key, humble human being I’m proud to call a friend

Did I mint our own collection? You betcha! While I don't know what my collective team will do with theirs, you may be wondering what I will do with these dragons I personally minted. For me, they will 100% sit in my collection regardless of the “floor.” NFTs are simply the medium for art, and art is meant to be enjoyeeeeed, something to be proud of.

The Year of the Dragon holds deep meaning in my heritage, Asian culture. I might even give these away before the transformation phase happens later this year. I will not to sell them, so consider these dragons out of circulation ;) I may be open to trade the traditional way though, collecting without pressures of price is how it should be with digital collectibles. Imagine the fun of ripping through packs of collectibles and trading with your friends and other collectors, that's the vibe. We're about the joy and pride they bring, not the price tag.

How many teams are still standing after launching with much higher mint prices? This entire experience, self-funded and born from the joy of creation, aims to enrich the collecting experience, even amidst the NFT exodus.
