I know most people probably don't mean it in bad faith but it does kind of bother me that people point out that this could be a platonic story about two girls being platonic soulmates. Without being open to the possibility of it being gay :
All the evidence shown does seem to put it in more of a “romantic” light. It’s one thing if it ended up being queer bait (I get people who are just being cared cause they don’t wanna get baited) I’m mostly talking about the people not being able to fathom
-5- Even with the whole thing with Lara saying
“Do you think I’ll be able to find true love? Here in Shiga?” And then it shows her thinking about Mari and bringing her back home, if it were two people of the opposite sex people wouldn’t be assuming it’s a
-4- at the end of the day we don’t know the ending between Mari and Lara and no, I wouldn’t be overly pissed off if that’s what it ends up being (so long as she doesn’t get with the “prince”) I’m more so mad that, that’s what people jumped to first
-3- wouldn’t it be better if more girl x guy shows had more “platonic soulmates”? infact I NEVER see people saying two characters that are of the opposite sex (that could be viewed as romantic) are “platonic soulmates” it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
-2- the idea that Mari and Lara could possibly have a romantic relationship. And it’s only ever with queer relationships that people push the “oh wel!! They could just be platonic soulmates! That’s important to show too!” And yes, it is but at the same time
@ziggyrim This, I've been trying to ignore it because I'm sure most don't mean it in a bad way but it does kind of bother me that they only do it with potential queer couples
