PhD from @UMNKinesiology w/a side of Public Health. Behavioral scientist who loves green physical activity. It's a Philly thing. Probably reading with my dog.
In New York City, I just used my Apple Watch to pay for the subway and an info board told me the next train was 2 min away.
In Philly, Iโd need to load a card that Iโll almost certainly lose for a train that I have no idea when it is arriving.
In case you're wondering what the hot new trend is in 2023:
~15% of the new Minnesota State Fair foods are pickle items. Mango pickles, pickle popsicles, pickle cheese curd tacos, pickle lemonade and pickle fries.
My best piece of advice for #PhDlife (or...anyone in academia?): connect with support humans who will sit on Zoom and write with you.
That's how the dissertation got written and how I'll still manage to write even as I'm on the job hunt. Big love to @jacquelynsertic today. :)
Post-PhD life is confusing because it's like:
"Revise and resubmit this paper to get your research out there (and on your CV), please!"
"But also you're not employed yet so you should spend your time applying for jobs."
But ALSO you're still burnt out.
So that's where I am.
Loved attending this yearโs @ISBNPA conference in Uppsala, Sweden. Doesnโt hurt to see @UMNKinesiology alum (and almost alum ๐) sharing great work. ๐๐ป๐๐ป

Some people have told me they don't feel as comfortable posting on LinkedIn as Twitter because of the weird formal/corporate vibe over there.
It's easy.
Tweet: I am eating spaghetti ๐
LinkedIn: Honoured to fuel my highly successful and dynamic body with this pasta dish today.
You canโt see cardiorespiratory fitness and there IS a way to measure it in a way approachable for community members - say it again! ๐๐ป๐๐ป
SO proud to see two friends and colleagues present their #ProjectEAT sub-study at #ISBNPA2023. @PublicHealthUMN
@DrCRSingleton@Gabriella_Mcl Sounds like excellent work!
๐๐ป - past Temple owl and currently living in Philly! Would love to connect while weโre both in Uppsala!
