Sunshyne and Co is a by-girls, for-girls swimwear brand based out of Nags Head, North Carolina. Sunshyne was started up by two OBX bffs in their twenties!
The story presented by this twitter page is fictional and is only a project for our Power of Horror class at NC State University. No one is in danger 😀 Hope you enjoy! (Not all images are ours)
Liz’s phone has died at this point and mine is dangerously low on battery. Without access to the van to charge them up, we don’t have a lot of time left to keep you guys up to date. Called my dad and left a voicemail, but it’s nearly four in the morning so he’s definitely asleep.
The ghost penetrated Liz’s form and came through her to the other side, hovering in the center of the lighthouse. Liz hit the guardrail. She would have gone over, too, if I hadn’t caught her shoulder and pulled her back. There’s no question. We need to get out of here. Now.
The woman materialized before our eyes like smoke. She was only a level below us on the staircase. And suddenly she was right in front of Liz. I felt as though everything was happening in slow motion.
Oh my God. We went downstairs to find Chanel, and Coco was lying on the floor of the lighthouse, gutted. We’re in shock. Sorry for the bluntness, but how else do I put this into a tweet? I don’t have words.
It’s nighttime now, darker than any night we’ve seen in our years living on the beach. The rain ceased for a moment, but the clouds are so dark they keep us from seeing anything. The only real light left is from the lighthouse lantern.
Before she could make it back down the stairs, he was gone, giving her no chance to object. He bolted the door behind him. Kennedy’s wife was forgotten and left trapped within the gleaming cylindrical tower walls to die.
We finally found this lighthouse’s story. Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, here in Kill Devil Hills, was kept by a man named Michael Kennedy for many years. The keeper was a notorious drunk and frequented the local bars.
One fateful night, Kennedy was in particularly bad spirits. Having emptied his flask of Kill Devil Rum, he called up to inform his wife, who had already reached the top of the lighthouse, that he was returning to town and would be back for her by morning.
Her eyes were the reason I know she wasn’t human. I have never seen anything darker in my life. They were deep-set and the pupils were piercing; I don’t even think they had an iris. Just two inky black pools set against the whites.
Liz again. I can’t decide if the air in here is colder or if I’ve just convinced myself it is. I never really believed in things like ghosts before this, but that thing I saw up here definitely wasn’t a human being. It was a feeble-looking female figure with wiry hair.
