Only good thing I see about the one knee down is saving your knees in the long run. Aside from that I see very bad catcher habits especially from the younger guys.

Instead of having your whole body up where the umpire has to make more effort to look for the ball. Being on one knee limits you to a section. If the ball is away from the section but still a strike, it looks like they’re reaching out more.
