The Collen Mashawana Foundation (CMF), led by Dr Collen Mashawana, visited the Sonskynhoekie Informal Settlement north of Pretoria, home to 141 families, most of whom are unemployed and rely on donations for survival.
During the visit, the foundation donated mattresses, blankets, clothing, food parcels and toys for children. After engaging with residents and witnessing their living conditions, Dr Mashawana also committed to donating two homes and solar panels to support vulnerable families in the community.
Dr Mashawana reaffirmed that poverty affects people from all backgrounds and that every South African deserves dignity, hope and support. The foundation remains committed to uplifting vulnerable communities through meaningful and sustainable interventions. #CMF #Sonskynhoekie

“I started my business in 2019 when I was 7 years old. I was being bullied at school and decided to stand up for myself, get help but also came up with ways to help other kids in the same situation” Prince Mashawana (SuperMash)

We thank the City of Johannesburg for holding hands with the Collen Mashawana Foundation and its partners, resulting in the meaningful support provided to the Xaba family. The family tragically lost members across three generations when their home collapsed three weeks ago. Tonight, we can sleep better knowing that the remaining family members are safe in their new home.
7. Today marks a resilient step forward for the Xaba family, supported by unwavering community compassion and a partnership dedicated to turning tragedy into hope #collenmashawanafoundation#CMF#soweto#doornkop#housing
Today was a powerful reminder of what compassion and community can achieve. We stood with the Xaba family in Doornkop, Soweto, as we handed over a new home, a safe and dignified place to begin healing after the tragic collapse that claimed three lives just weeks ago.
This journey was never walked alone. With the unwavering support of our partners, Baroka Funerals, Steelworld, and the City of Johannesburg, we are proud to have fulfilled every commitment we made to the family from the moment we first met them.
I wish Zinhle, Sicelo, and Nkosinatho nothing but peace and happiness in their new home, which includes two bedrooms, a lounge, a dining area, and comes fully furnished to offer comfort and stability.
Today was about more than handing over a house, it was about restoring hope through partnership, love, and unity.

I first met the Xaba family two weeks ago after their home collapsed, tragically claiming the lives of three family members, including a child. Among the commitments we made to support them during this difficult time was a promise to rebuild their home. In a few hours, they will receive a fully furnished house. 🏠
A few weeks back, their home was destroyed by fire and their three children were tragically burnt beyond recognition. We pledged to support the Nobela Sisters in starting afresh, offering therapy services, job placements, burial assistance for their children, and a new home. We have honored all these commitments, and in just a few hours, we will give them the keys to a new three-bedroom residence. #onebrickatatime #collenmashawanafoundation
