@JeffGSpursZone Well, in that sense, yes. But will they be forever a choker, NEVER! They’re young. They’ll be back. This hurts but this team is an over achiever this year. Let’s give the flowers to NYK. They deserve this. But one thing’s for sure. This will NOT be the last finals run of Spurs.
12 years ago to the day, the Spurs shot 75.8% in the first half & scored 71 points in Miami on their way to a rout of the Heat. Tonight, they shoot 60% in the first half & make an NBA Finals record 14 threes in a half and score 76 points to lead by 27. #PorVida
7 hours later and it’s still inexcusable.
What were we thinking to only play him 3 minutes in the 4th after he was the best performer last night? He was fantastic on D and the glass too — it wasn’t just scoring.
Anyway, it’s the first to 4 wins.
Things to clean up:
Vic’s excess dribbling from 28 feet out needs to end. He should never take more than two hard dribbles to get to great spots. Get him the ball closer — cross screens to free him up from 12 feet or off rolls or off dump offs in dunker.
Rebounding. We need to play with aggression on the glass the full 48.
More Dylan Harper. He needs 35 mpg this series MINIMUM Even if that means less Fox. Fox is still important.
Clean up the rushed grenades from 3. It’s important to find the transition 3s but there’s no need to rush these opportunities.
Put more pressure on the rim with the perimeter guards. Attack Shamet/Brunson.
Spurs need 1 of Carter/Keldon to step up and be a factor.
@EricSal_7 I'm from the Philippines and share the same feelings. Supporting the Spurs since 1994, this situation feels different, like 1999. It's surreal to return to where our Dynasty started. I hope we achieve our goals again.
I’ll never forget watching the Spurs break into the Finals in 1999 on the road in Portland.
After so many years of heartbreak.
I was 13.
I was superstitious as hell (still am).
For road games the entire playoff run starting game 3 in Minnesota, I stood on the couch the entire time, TV muted, locked in on Jay Howard calling it on 1200 WOAI.
Didn’t move except for timeouts.
Fast forward 27 years.
I’m 40 now, watching this Wemby era carve its place in history and in the 4th quarter, I look over at my daughter.
There she was.
Standing on the couch.
The whole quarter.
Screaming go Spurs go.
Man.
Full circle doesn’t even cover it.
This city.
This team.
Love it so damn much.
