Two little girls in South Carolina, Emory and Harlow, are dead. Their mother, Justine May, is charged with homicide by child abuse after allegedly going two weeks without giving them food or water. Her family says there was a countdown written on the wall in crayon. Both grandmothers and her own brother begged publicly for someone to step in.

The girls' father tried to see them and got arrested for harassment. The mother got a no-contact order. DSS reportedly had an open case for a month, and police did a welfare check and said the kids were fine. Fifteen days later, they were gone.

Every agency that touched this case owes the public answers. These babies didn't have to die.
