In the 80s I had a job installing car stereo in North Dallas. At lunch I was pulled over for speeding when I pulled my wallet out of my pocket I also had a pair of wire cutters. The officer looked at me and said it's illegal in Texas to carry wire cutters on your person. He broke character and said that it goes back to the 1800s and that I didn't like a fence cutter or rustler and let me off with a warning for speeding.
