Understand that The Marvel that I was hired by, loved, thrived in, is long dead. They were rotting from within in the early 2000โs and then The Disney purchase turned them into something else altogether. The House Of Mouse is not The House Of Ideas.
Their library is still rich with incredible, influential, classic gems. The first 30 years after F.F. #1 are peak.
@TedRall Which means the problem is bigger than Trump. The Media cries about Trump as a threat, then brake bread with him telling jokes and patting themselves on the back for their Journalistic Integrity. Would they hang out with Hitler too? It's a big club, and we ain't in it
@poxesfoxes I laughed so hard in the theater when this scene came on, thinking this scene was the icing on the cake, until the real ending happened. What a waste of time.
Paul Verhoeven's "Showgirls" (1995) has been consistently ranked as one of the worst films ever made and the movie was a box office bomb. However, it has generated more than $100 million from video rentals and became one of MGMโs top 20 all-time bestsellers. When "Showgirls" swept the 16th Annual Razzie Awards with record 7 Razzies, Paul Verhoeven turned up in person to accept Worst Director and Worst Picture awards.
Verhoeven was the first director to ever turn up to collect the award. While accepting the award, he said, "I had the worst thing happen to me today. I got seven awards for being the worst, and it was more fun than reading the reviews for 'Showgirls' in September."
He continued, "When I was making movies in Holland, they were blasted by critics as decadent, perverted and sleazy," Verhoeven said, while the audience laughed. "Then I moved to the United States. . ." Verhoeven didn't say anything more. Everybody filled in the punchline for him. He had a standing ovation for both his acceptance speeches from the crowd consisting of International audience.
("The Hollywood Reporter" & ""Showgirls' gets razzed", Steve Persall, Tampa Bay Times, 2005)
P.S: Happy 88th birthday, Paul Verhoeven!
@robertliefeld NWA/WCW no longer exists, and neither does Marvel. Marvel is now a Disney Brand. The company we all grew up with is gone. No Publisher, no Bullpen, no NYC Office. The Mouse ate it up, and nobody knows what's going to come out of the other end. I doubt it will be good for workers
@TedRall This is blasphemous to real Christians. Let's see who denounces it and who doesn't. Jim Jones also called himself God, that didn't work out so well for himself and his "flock". Problem is Our Rev Drumpf has access to the Nuclear Codes...
@robertliefeld This is a placeholder move at best. If Disney had any real plans to shake things up why go back 20 years to a guy who openly mocked and trolled SpiderFans about Peter and MJs marriage? If Marvel intends to keep publishing, why don't they get new faces with new ideas? Fishy..
@ScottMWest Stop writing Superhero comics like it's a netflix romcom. Where's the action? Where's the danger? WHERE IS SPIDER-MAN? Boring story, with boring 2D art, done by boring creators, for boring fans. People sitting for page after page. Look what they've done to my boy!
@DiscussingFilm Spider-Man fought the Hulk many times! He fought Juggernaut, and Firelord and beat both of them! Spidey's good at beating the odds, that's why we like Spider-Man! That said, the CGI doesn't look good, and I don't like Holland or Ruffalo. They nerfed the Hulk, my favorite.
A star is born. This is Marshawn Camese. He is brilliant. He needs to run for office. Watch him eviscerate a Louisiana MAGA state representative. Looooove him!
X just spoiled the ending of today's episode of x-men 97! I wasn'r even looking for it, but there it was in my newsfeed! This site is so stupid! #xsucks#xmen97#xmentos#MarvelComics#elonmusk
