On 28 October 1664, King Charles II sanctioned the formation of the Duke of York & Albany’s Maritime Regiment of foot. Renamed in 1802 to @RoyalMarines
We are proud to be part of the wider #RMfamily, and want to wish all Detachments and every #Royal a very Happy 358th Birthday
General Sir Gordon Messenger became the first Royal Marine to hold the ceremonial position of Constable of His Majesty's @TowerOfLondon when he was installed during a formal ceremony. He received a set of golden keys from the Lord Chamberlain to mark his accession to the office.
Congratulations to our very own Support Company Commander who tonight was recognised by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant for The Royal County of Berkshire for his “Outstanding service and devotion to duty to the Royal Marines Cadets”
