🗣 Calling all Oklahoma teachers, parents and school staff members
As you navigate schooling in the midst of this pandemic, we want to hear from you.
What should we know about your experiences? What should we be investigating?
Let us know below 👇🏽 https://t.co/HwQ2UgVeCy
good morning, some news: I’m the new editor of @NormanNews.
you can read my introduction column at the link below, but this excerpt is really where I’m coming from: https://t.co/US8Ec2m8kF
🗣 The @HealthyOklahoma vaccine scheduler portal is being updated overnight to be made available in Spanish. This removes a barrier to access for predominantly Spanish speaking communities trying to get vaccinated.
If Julius Jones' commutation request advances past a Stage 2 review later this year, Gov. Kevin Stitt will have the final say. My latest:

COVID-19 vaccine update: @HealthyOklahoma deputy commissioner will talk with reporters at 3 p.m. about "plans to open vaccine appointments for Phase 3 priority groups and answer questions about Oklahoma’s vaccine distribution plan."
New @MarshallProj: White kids were released from juvenile detention at a far higher rate than their Black peers during the early stages of the pandemic. And the racial gap is widening, even though teens were arrested less often in 2020. By @elibhager: https://t.co/b6d2Xdc84s
This is YOUR information, Oklahoma. You deserve to know which communities are being vaccinated at higher and lower rates. We fight for this information, not because we think journalists deserve it, but because you do. We do this work on your behalf. #foioklahoma
Conversation matters.
I know the hesitation to put out this data, but in the end, this is something @HealthyOklahoma would like to know more about anyway because ZIPs are a better #okhealth determinant than counties. They’re not ideal, but they’re a good estimate.
Got my first Moderna vaccine at Walmart on Belle Isle Blvd. Was the first one there. If you are getting vaccinated at Walmart, make sure to have your insurance card and a prescription bottle or letter from your doctor w/ you (if you are in the 18+ with chronic illness category).
Walmart and Sam’s Club locations across Oklahoma have vaccine appointments open to 65+ as well as adults 18+ with chronic conditions. The sign up links are now open.
UPDATE FOR TODAY’s POD! After speaking with @HealthyOklahoma , we have added an eligible category, “Adults (>18) with comorbidities”.
Reference CDC’s list of comorbidities: https://t.co/Db9E7XnuRd
This is now added to our online portal for signup:

SEEKING SOURCES: Last week I learned that 62,000 vaccines allocated to OK's long-term care residents and staff had not been administered. I am writing an update and want to speak with residents and staff at nursing homes and assisted living centers. DM me https://t.co/ShGnKP0klE
Really excited to share a bit of news: later this month, I’ll start a new job as a health reporter at @TheOklahoman_.
I’m thrilled to get to return to Oklahoma, and I’m ready to dig in on the health beat at such a critical time. Can’t wait to get started.
I’m at Ebenezer Baptist Church in northeast OKC with @Supriyasridhar_ where 1,100 COVID vaccines are expected to be administered today. Appointments were made through the church not the @HealthyOklahoma portal in an effort to target an underserved community, health officials say.
Not a single NYPD cop since the Eric Garner case has been fired in any of the dozens of times they used prohibited chokeholds.
Most lost vacation days or were not punished at all.
Damn fine work @ReporterTopher@yoavgonen @lhwaldron
