HOW TO BUILD A 100-GOAT FARM IN 18 MONTHS

Many farmers dream of owning 100 goats, but only a few understand the system behind it. Here’s how to strategically grow your goat farm to 100 strong animals in just 18 months, using planning, breeding, and proper farm management.

Phase 1: Setup and Starter Stock (Month 1–3)
Start with 1 plot of land, build proper raised pens, and install a clean water and feed storage system.
Buy 20–25 healthy female goats (does) and 2–3 strong males (bucks).
Quarantine, deworm, and vaccinate every new animal.

Phase 2: First Breeding Cycle (Month 4–9)
Introduce natural synchronization and controlled mating so most does give birth around the same time.
Feed well using a mix of grasses, legumes, PKC, shredded forage, and molasses.
Monitor health, tag animals, and keep records.

Phase 3: First Kidding (Month 10–12)
Expect 35–50 kids if managed well.
Care for pregnant does with calcium and protein-rich diets.
Wean kids at 2.5 to 3 months, deworm, and start training them on creep feed.
Keep the best for breeding, separate the rest by weight and purpose.

Phase 4: Second Mating and Grow-Out (Month 13–16)
Re-mate original mothers for second cycle.
Grow out the first batch to sale weight (20–25kg)
Keep top kids for future breeding, sell the rest as meat or breeding stock.

Phase 5: Sales and Scaling (Month 17–18)
At this stage, you’ll have:
– 35–50 breeding does
– 3–5 bucks
– 30–50 grow-outs
– 100 goats total, ready to sell, breed, or scale further

Start marketing to butchers, farmers, meat buyers, and online buyers.

It was my pleasure to, on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, meet beneficiaries of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) @N_DeltaAmnesty who are studying in the United Kingdom. Also in attendance was my colleague the Hon. Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), @senlokpobiri.

It is very heartwarming to witness the impact of the program first hand and interact with beneficiaries.

The President’s desire is to ensure that all Nigerians, including and especially the youth, are given the right opportunity to thrive and to contribute meaningfully to development of the country.

Once upon a time, the story of the Niger Delta was one of deprivation, degradation and disorder. Today, through initiatives like the PAP and others, that story has changed for the better.

The Programme Administrator, Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro, informed me that there are over 8,000 students studying in Nigeria at the moment, and over 220 undergoing various studies in the UK. 

I personally think the PAP is one of the best programmes Nigeria has ever delivered, and the Tinubu Administration has done and is still doing a lot to reposition and strengthen it.

Earlier today, the Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination & Head, CRDCU, @hadizabalausman delivered a presentation at the AIG Public Leaders Programme organised by the @AigFoundation, where she engaged participants on the realities of public leadership, governance, and policy delivery in Nigeria.

Drawing from her experience in public service, she spoke about the importance of strong institutions and effective coordination in translating government policies into tangible outcomes for citizens. She highlighted the work of the Central Results Delivery Coordination Unit (CRDCU) in tracking the implementation of presidential priorities and conducting performance assessments of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), noting that the process helps ensure accountability, alignment, and measurable progress across government.

The Special Adviser also emphasised that policy making must be deliberate, data-driven, and closely monitored to ensure that government initiatives achieve their intended impact. According to her, the work of policy coordination is not only about designing frameworks but also about ensuring that institutions deliver on their mandates in a way that improves service delivery and strengthens public trust.

She further encouraged participant from all parts of the world to see leadership as a responsibility that demands integrity, resilience, and continuous personal development. She noted that inclusive leadership remains vital to building stronger public institutions, while also acknowledging the increasing role of women in governance and public administration as an important part of shaping a more responsive and effective public sector.
