Requesting the GoI to bring the following amendments to the Atrocities Act so that SC/ST students can feel safer in colleges:

Amendment of Section 3(1):
After clause (zc), insert:

(zd) being a faculty or staff member, causes mental agony to a Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe student by catching and/or reporting the SC/ST student for using unfair means in examinations;

(ze) being an examiner or faculty member, awards a failing grade to or fails a Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe student in any examination, internal evaluation, or viva-voce, irrespective of the student not performing as per the passing guidelines;

(zf) Any death of a Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe student, irrespective of it being suicide or unnatural, whether on the college campus or outside, and whether during an active academic session or during college vacations, regardless of the reason (such as relationship breakups, road traffic accidents, family issues, snake bites, rabies, syphilis, HIV, bomb blast or poor academic performance), shall be held against the GC and OBC members of the college administration and faculty for failing to save the life of a disadvantaged person;

irrespective of active act or intent, punishable with imprisonment for life or not less than ten years.

A comic act at Rahul Gandhi’s Chhatron Ki Goonj in Indore yesterday has BJP leaders sweating this morning. Pulkit Mani on stage did Modi’s “My friend” act, the hug-diplomacy routine, the coin-trick-with-kids bit, and even the chair-for-an-elderly-woman heeheehee. Rahul khikhikhi-ed along. Shameful! That's how some CMs reacted. Union ministers called it disgusting. Dharmendra Pradhan, gone from the Cabinet for not giving answers to students, said students deserved answers, not political theatre. An insult to the PM, more chamchas chimed in.

No Rahul Gandhi can damage Modi's image like his sycophants do. No comedian can roast Modi harder than his own men do.

Just two days prior, his 76th was turned into a cringe fest by his own team. When a simple RT was demanded, they performed full aarti and stuffed 76 kg laddoos into his face on a portrait. 76 batuks poured milk into the Ganga, havan, yagna, what not. Some composed Sanskrit mantras, literal worship, Ram-like god language. Cute, wholesome, society WhatsApp group energy. Except it gives us Turkmenistan vibes in a nation that already admires the man like it rarely admires anyone outside the desi cinematic universe.

Admiration is democratic. Dugdhabhishek of a sitting Prime Minister is North Korean. Or, at best, South Indian, where hero worship has a place, but it's outside a multiplex in Chennai on a Friday, not as theatre on DDU Marg. The line between sycophancy and psycho-fancy has blurred.

Politicians are not perfect. Ennui is allowed. Granted. Modi has had a solid run, third time PM, charisma intact, still the most popular leader on the scene. The man is already larger than life. He does not need fan fiction, chalisa chaploosi, or Om NaMo Namah coinages.

At this point, he should sue his so-called supporters for misuse of name and likeness, for turning his bhakti into daily theatre. Instead of pushing Rahul and a mimic into a Streisand effect, the BJP needs to mute the people doing Om namo NaMo namah. The IT cells are already in a meme game fight. Don't supply more material.

Politics is enshittifying in real time, and the mockery wave is only loading. 2029 is still distant. The party can survive it. The BJP needs its own apparatchiks to stop cosplaying as unhinged Modi majnoos on main. Jai ho!

Sahil, a B Tech student at IIT Bombay, died by suicide after being caught using a phone during an exam. IIT said he uploaded the paper to ChatGPT for answers inside the exam hall.

Police booked the faculty who caught him under the SC/ST Atrocities Act on the complaint of Sahil's father, because why not. If there’s a mechanism to spin the story from "died by suicide out of fear after getting caught cheating" into "died after being forced to cheat because evil faculty relentlessly tormented him for his caste and threatened to fail him," you might as well pull that lever.

Sahil’s father claimed that "under instructions from IIT Director", faculty member Suryanarayan Dulla had been targeting his son with casteist slurs since long, a revelation that apparently only struck him post-tragedy.

Caste-based activist groups and political parties will inevitably exploit this to engineer Rohith Vemula 2.0. We are drifting toward an educational environment where faculty members dare not report academic dishonesty or fail underperforming students, wary that a Atrocities case could be weaponized against them retrospectively.

NSUI ऐसे माहौल में क्यों हारी?
ABVP मुश्किल हालात में कैसे जीती?

जिस दिल्ली में ठीक 2 महीने पहले इन्हीं दिनों सच में छात्रों की गूंज सरकार के खिलाफ बहुत जोर से सुनाई दे रही थी। प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी को भद्दी-भद्दी गालियां तक पड़ रही थीं। छात्र समुदाय का गुस्सा उबाल मार रहा था। छात्र सरकार को उखाड़ फेंकने के लिए मरने मरने पर उतारू थे, उसे दिल्ली में दिल्ली विश्वविद्यालय छात्र संघ का चुनाव कांग्रेस के छात्र संगठन NSUI के लिए एक बहुत बड़ा अवसर था जब वह इस गुस्से को बहुत अच्छे से भुना सकती थी। अगर NSUI इस चुनाव को जीतती तो ये नतीजे देश की राजनीतिक हवा को भी बदलने में काम आ सकते थे। लेकिन दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण तरीके से NSUI चारों खाने चित हो गई। चार में से एक भी प्रत्याशी का नहीं जीत पाना साफ बताता है कि यह छात्र संगठन जमीन पर कितना ज्यादा कमजोर है। ऊपर से कांग्रेस को करीब से जानने वाले जो प्रत्याशी चयन की गड़बड़ियां बता रहे हैं, वो तो अनर्थ जैसा है। राजनीति में अंतिम नतीजे ही सत्य होते हैं। हार का सिर्फ विश्लेषण किया जा सकता है। इसका भागीदार कोई नहीं होता। NSUI के राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष विनोद जाखड़ अत्यधिक मेहनती युवा है और खुद छात्र राजनीति से ही निकल कर आगे बढ़े हैं लेकिन अकेले में भी क्या कर लेंगे।

दूसरी ओर ABVP है।
राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ के इस छात्र संगठन ने तमाम विपरीत हालातो को हराते हुए चार में से तीन पदों पर कब्जा किया है। ABVP के लिए यह चुनाव बिल्कुल भी आसान नहीं था। 2 महीने पहले दिल्ली की सड़कों पर हुए युवाओं के आंदोलन ने जब बीजेपी की नींव भी दिला दी थी, बीजेपी के सर्वकालिक ताकतवर नेता प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी भी बैक फुट पर थे तो ABVP में कैसे वह जोश हो सकता था जो पिछली बार था। लेकिन सही फैसले, सही प्रत्याशी चयन और संगठन की ताकत ने आज एबीवीपी को जीत का हार पहना दिया है। ABVP ने पिछली बार भी जोरदार जीत हासिल की थी लेकिन इस बार जीत का अंतर कम होने के बावजूद यह जीत पिछली बार के मुकाबले काफी बड़ी है। समस्त परिस्थितियों आपके खिलाफ हों और उसके बावजूद आप जीत हासिल करें तो यह उल्लेखनीय उपलब्धि बन जाती है।

चुनाव के दौरान सवाल भी पूछे जा रहे थे कि NSUI का अध्यक्ष तो फलां है, ABVP का अध्यक्ष कौन है? हम भी नहीं जानते कि एबीवीपी का अध्यक्ष कौन है लेकिन अगर कोई होगा भी तो वह इतना लो प्रोफाइल आदमी होगा जो सिर्फ जमीन पर काम करता होगा। ABVP से, इसकी चुनावी रणनीति से, इसके संगठन कौशल से बहुत कुछ सीखा जा सकता है। जंतर मंतर के आंदोलन के कुछ ही दिन बाद ABVP ने पंजाब विश्वविद्यालय में भी लगातार दूसरी जीत दर्ज की थी। विरोधियों ने तब बोल दिया था कि उसमें ABVP को शिरोमणि अकाली दल का समर्थन मिला इसलिए जीत गई। लेकिन दिल्ली में तो यह समीकरण नहीं थे। फिर भी ABVP जीती है तो इसका मतलब उसमें कुछ तो खास बात है जो वह हार को भी जीत में बदलने का माद्दा रखती है।
