This is uncanny. Reliant on technology that doesn’t have a price point, and is anti-family with the ‘per-person’ monthly cost.
Socialism as a revenue stream.
@DrPhiltill The PRC removed $10T in property value—the majority of net worth for Chinese citizens. Their population peaked ~5 years ago. Their municipal debt loads are massive. And the Confucian tradition has kids care for parents—no social net.
I don’t share your assessment.
@pmarca Read: Phaedrus 274c–276a. Doxosophia is an epic concept from Plato. He used the term to describe the effect of writing, and it’s applicable to what LLMs do 10x compared to the mere written word. The dialectic matters.
@mmjukic Plato did a very long time ago: Doxosophia, the appearance/conceit of wisdom. Phaedrus 274c–276a
You also haven’t seen anyone make a comparison, because it doesn’t (yet) exist. With LLMs almost certainly unable to achieve AGI.
@TylerAlterman My 7 year old plays Toca Boca. It’s dolls with cities worth of doll houses in a game.
I pay $10 and she gets what would cost $200 if they were Barbie’s.
She then finds images of the dolls and does her favorite thing—paper dolls. Cuts them out, colors them. Like it’s 1910.
@curiouswavefn@pmarca Yeah, I know what you mean. AI isn’t an answer machine, it’s more like a conceptual calculator. It enables something a lot like a dialectic to work through thoughts that would otherwise be bogged down in searching for supporting information.
@cspan Decades of SACEURs and SECDEFs and POTUSes raised the need for Europe and Canada to contribute more. None of them were Trump with the inaction leading to Trump.
More than 15 years ago, a physicist had an outrageous idea. It was dismissed as impossible.
Now here we are, with a device that is pure engineering madness. And it could quite literally change how we view biology. 🧵 (1/7)
