New paper alert! π°π¨π
Just out in @theAGU we measured #coralreef metabolism of a reef flat and looked at seasonality of the transition from net calcification to net dissolution. #newpaper#AcademicTwitter#phdchat 1/7

Dozens of people have spent the night stranded on the Woodburn bridge with their cars and horses. The Richmond River may peak near 6.9m this afternoon, above the 1954 peak of 5.42m
Here's ecosystem net #carbon flux average seasonal cycle on the sphere... what I really like, we see intuitively the carbon "sink" when the biosphere is sucking carbon out of the atmosphere. Thanks to @tylermorganwall@mdsumner D.Murdoch @edzerpebesma R.Hijmans #RStats

@jbaumann3 Love this thread! Thanks for sharing your experience! What a wonderful teaching experience that must have been and I am sure your students appreciated it. We need more profs like you who dare to try new things and move past the old set ways of traditional learning!
pre-recording a conference presentation is harder than I thought + seems great for people that dislike public speaking bc no audience - it requires maybe more practice than the real deal bc you can't be spontaneous/use body language & you're missing cues of the audience. take 4!
Still trying to wrap my head around the fact that lots of scientists are losing jobs in 2021, with the world in the midst of a raging pandemic and facing a climate crisis
The power of sport and the difference it makes when the men champion the female athletes. This is a great display of what can be achieved if everyone buys in. A win for the sport no matter what gender you are.
Ambitious plan! Hopefully the focus is also on reducing emissions and not just carbon offsetting. It's great to see more boats involved in the science program and collecting oceanographic data (and microplastics) while lapping the planet! #TheOceanRace#EarthDay2021#oceanhealth
#EarthDay is all about driving positive action for the planet. π Over 70% of the Earth's surface is ocean, so it's vital that we protect it. We want to do all we can to help, which is why The Ocean Race is aiming to make our 2022-23 race climate positive. https://t.co/xIdtcgONrj
Curious about spatial and temporal trents of Coral Cover on Heron Reef annually since 2002? See latest publication in Coral Reefs https://t.co/dhINd1qXsi and recent data paper https://t.co/mNkrvUF2hw by a great team at @RSRC_UQ, @UQscience and its ongoing.
