So itโs September 2026 and Iโm at Asakeโs concert with my friends. The atmosphere is unreal. Everyone is singing, dancing, recording videos, and for a few hours nothing else in the world matters.
A few minutes after finding my seat, I notice this guy on the same row. Every now and then I catch him looking at me. Not in a creepy way, just enough to make me wonder if Iโm imagining it. A few times our eyes meet and we both quickly look away.
I laugh it off and focus on the concert.
Then it happens.
Asake starts performing my favorite song from the album. The one song Iโve played so much that my friends are tired of hearing it.
The second the intro comes on, I lose my mind.
At the exact same moment, so does he.
We both scream so loudly that we end up turning to look at each other. The look on our faces is immediate recognition.
Like, โNo way this is your favorite song too.โ
For the next few minutes weโre both singing every single lyric at the top of our lungs. Every verse. Every ad-lib. Every word.
When the song ends, he laughs and says, โI knew that had to be your favorite song.โ
I ask how he knew.
He says, โBecause itโs mine too.โ
And somehow that turns into a conversation.
We spend the rest of the concert talking between performances, teasing each other over our favorite tracks, swapping videos we took during the show, and laughing like weโve known each other for years.
When the concert ends, neither of us is in a hurry to leave.
So we walk out together.
Then he asks for my number.
Months later weโre dating, and every time someone asks how we met, I have to tell them the most ridiculous story ever:
โI met my boyfriend because we both screamed at the same Asake song at the exact same time.โ
Yesterday evening around 5pm CDT, I noticed that my verified followers are now 2007. That means I have officially qualified to set up subscriptions on my account.
I won't be turning it on just yet. I want to wait until I can offer something that genuinely adds value and makes it worth your support. For now, I just want to say thank you.
Honestly, considering the number of times I have publicly accused the algorithm of plotting against me, hiding my tweets, suppressing my impressions, stealing my reach, and generally behaving like an unpaid enemy, I am surprised 2,007 verified people still chose to follow me.
Thank you to everyone who follows me, engages with my posts, shares my content, replies to my tweets, and supports this account in ways both big and small.
Every follow, like, repost, reply, and conversation has helped this account grow into what it is today. I do not take any of it for granted.
Thank you for believing I am worth following. Thank you for your support, your encouragement, and for being part of this journey.
