Joining Merlin the duck in the pantheon of heart-stealers is Osito, an 8-year-old rescue poodle mix who's become an unlikely sensation after arriving at Mexico’s opening match perched on the back of a cargo bicycle, dressed in a Mexico jersey, sunglasses and a cap. https://t.co/dBX8Uu3QmL

New concerns are emerging about President Trump’s sweeping pardon of Jan. 6 defendants after a report found that nearly 100 of them have been arrested, charged or convicted of additional crimes since the attack in 2021.
It comes as continuing efforts by Trump and his allies to recast the events of that day have reignited debate over accountability and the rule of law.
@ElizLanders has more.
The paint on Washington's newly renovated Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool was peeling away from the bottom and into the algae-tinted water, less than two weeks after President Trump announced the job's completion https://t.co/kNdlQ3GadE

After Japan battled the Netherlands to a 2-2 draw, the Japanese fans stayed behind and cleaned up every single piece of trash from their section at Dallas Stadium after the game.
Spanish lawmakers gave Pope Leo XIV a standing ovation after he called for respect for migrants’ rights and international law in a historic address to parliament that signaled a new level of acceptance of the Catholic Church in the overwhelmingly secular country.

We all remember the day Pope Francis was elected.
And we all remember the day of his death.
But if there is a third moment of his pontificate that no one can forget, it is surely this one: the extraordinary Urbi et Orbi blessing of March 27, 2020, in an empty St. Peter’s Square, while the whole world was going through the pandemic.
It was an image forever etched in the memory of millions: the Holy Father, alone in the rain, bringing before God the fear, the suffering, and the hope of all humanity.
That gesture became one of the most powerful and moving symbols of his pontificate.
Fasting is a concrete way to prepare ourselves to receive the Word of God. Abstaining from food is an ancient ascetic practice that is essential on the path of conversion. It helps us to identify and order our “appetites,” keeping our hunger and thirst for justice alive and freeing us from complacency. It teaches us to pray and act responsibly towards our neighbor. #Lent
Faced with the possibility of a tragedy of immense proportions, I make a heartfelt appeal to all the parties involved to assume the moral responsibility of halting the spiral of violence before it becomes an unbridgeable chasm. May diplomacy regain its proper role, and may the well-being of peoples, who yearn for peaceful existence founded on justice, be upheld. And let us continue to pray for peace.
There has been no harsher critic to U.S. military action in Iran than Pope Leo XIV:
“War is back in vogue and a zeal for war is spreading. The principle established after the Second World War, which prohibited nations from using force to violate the borders of others, has been completely undermined.
“Peace is no longer sought as a gift and a desirable good in itself, or in the pursuit of the establishment of the ordered universe willed by God, with a more perfect form of justice among men and women.”
“Instead, peace is sought through weapons as a condition for asserting one’s own dominion.
“This gravely threatens the rule of law, which is the foundation of all peaceful civil coexistence.”
Wow look at that the Gold Medal Winning Women’s Olympic Hockey team coming back to Madison and not out at a Strip club in Miami or at the SOTU with Trump!
The assassination of Malcolm X shook this nation to its core. His killing was a reminder of the price paid for speaking truth to POWER. Today, we honor his legacy & recommit to the fight for justice, accountability, & protecting every voice that dares to challenge injustice.
