We hold regular workshops to teach folks about #earthbag and #naturalbuilding. I am also an author and have written seven books, including Ecological Awakening.
Here's a picture of the outside of our woodshed as I was still working on it. You can see the storage spot we have for boards up top, to keep them out of the rain. The windows are freebies, gotten of of craigslist. The base of the wall is #earthbag, followed by #cordwood and…
Here's another pic of the inside of our #skoolieconversion. I've been working on getting insurance, which has proved remarkably easy and affordable with National General. We are looking at taking a trip out West to New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah, among other places, later in…
Here's a pic of the current progress on our #earthbagpool. The workshop on Saturday went great and we had an awesome group. Hopefully we should get the liner in soon and be swimming our hearts out!

This silt pond is the beginning of the #earthbag#swimmingpool we'll be building this Saturday. It was built out of rocks from on site and cement-stabilized earth. The earthbags behind it are diverting the water from above to give it long enough to cure.

Here's a picture of the #tilefloor of our first #earthbag house as it was nearing completion. These were all inexpensive remainder tiles and we put a concrete mix under them and leveled them to each other. It has been a great floor and is still in overall great shape today.

Another image from my upcoming book, "The Church of Nature." This pic was taken in #Utah (?) in 2007 when Mary Jane and I were travelling to #BigSur. We crashed out at a rest stop and when we woke up in the morning, this salt flat is what greeted us.

A pic from when we were building the #bottlewall. You can see the piece of bent rebar that we put in the middle of the wall for stability. This wall faces West and lets diffuse light in without much heat in the Summer.

I feel fortunate to live in a beautiful place, far away from crowds and traffic. Every day, I feel connected to the #Earth and can see it's changing face. I tried to like cities but they never felt like home to me. Thankful to live here.

Another pic from our latest #naturalbuilding#workshop. The wall participants were building is an #earthbag stemwall with #cordwood and #bottlewall up top. I will finish this side of the shed with some free windows to allow sun to shine on (and dry) the firewood stored there…
Making a penetration through a #livingroof membrane can be a daunting task. We have had some leaks with ours but I think I found a solution: eternabond tape at the seam and the entire area including silicone boot painted with liquid rubber. Worked perfectly during the rain l…
