In his 2021 book The Real Anthony Fauci, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. accuses Dr. Anthony Fauci of overseeing experiments on foster children in New York City and pregnant women in Africa to fast-track toxic AIDS drugs.

Between 1988 and 2001, NIAID (under Fauci) funded trials at Incarnation Children’s Center in Manhattan. A 2009 Vera Institute report found 532 foster children were enrolled in 88 clinical trials. Many were given AZT and other drugs with severe side effects like vomiting, anemia, bone marrow suppression, and organ toxicity.

Records showed major problems with informed consent, independent advocates, and oversight. At least 80 children died while in foster care, with 25 deaths occurring during the trials.

Similar NIAID-funded trials in Africa tested nevirapine on pregnant women, later linked to liver toxicity and data integrity issues.
