In 1964, Paul McCartney and George Harrison were members of The Beatles during the height of the band’s early fame. Both were in their early twenties, with McCartney being 22 and Harrison 21 that year. The Beatles had their first major American tour in 1964, including their famous appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show.

McCartney and Harrison had known each other since their teenage years and had played together before The Beatles became internationally successful. Harrison was the lead guitarist, while McCartney played bass and was one of the band’s main songwriters alongside John Lennon. By the end of 1964, The Beatles had become one of the biggest musical acts in the world.
