living a life of joy & creativity as a wife, mom, friend, & teacher by collaborating with others 2 seek innovative solutions that make our WORLD a better place!
@HoffmanTrailsEl teachers and students continue to read books w/themes of empathy, courage, & equity. We’re inspired by Dr. Martin Luther Jr. Ss discussed their hopes & dreams & chose how to share thru art & tech integration using @MicrosoftFlip#hcsdinnovate#ReadyforTomorrow
Have you signed up for the ☀️ Summer Reading Challenge @columbuslibrary ?! Mrs. Cook and your @HoffmanTrailsEl friends have! We love the amazing books and fun programs for everyone in the family! You can sign up for a free library card!📚❤️ #hcsdinnovate#ReadyForTomorrow
Our rescued ducklings have hatched! Students are inspired to chart their growth, use design thinking to create play systems, and make thinking visible with our collaborative duckling mural. #hcsdinnovate#ReadyForTomorrow
A 1st grade student reads Piggie & Gerald to our ducklings that hatched in the IDC. The other students made observations using iPads, while classes watched the YouTube Livestream. Tech integration opens possibilities to experiential learning! #hcsdinnovate#ReadyForTomorrow
Students, also known as ornithologists, scientists who study birds, observed our duck moving in its shell. This is called candling. The yolk provides energy to grow. The duck will use its beak to “pip” through the air cell (white portion of egg). #hcsdinnovate#ReadyForTomorrow
Kindergarten Ss are empowered as they make learning visible by creating Nonfiction Book Snaps w/their iPads. Ss ask questions & use text features in nonfiction books to discover answers, take pictures, & then use editing tools. #ReadyForTomorrow#hcsdinnovate@HoffmanTrailsEl
IDC smiles @HoffmanTrailsEl as Ss practice Aloha Aina, “love for the land” by reusing milk cartons & planting vegetables that will be planted at The Hilliard Food Pantry, our school garden, or family gardens. Each week they will document growth. #ReadyforTomorrow#hcsdinnovate
@HoffmanTrailsEl Ss used design thinking to study inflation, food scarcity, & insecurity to create a shelving system, displays, & an organizational system for the Hilliard Food Pantry. They organized 534 Ilbs. of 📚s @HoffmanTrailsEl collected #hcsdinnovate#ReadyForTomorrow
@HoffmanTrailsEl Ss are making a difference at the Hilliard Food Pantry Library. They researched food insecurity, inflation & food scarcity. 3 design teams collaborated to create a new shelving system, displays, & an organizational system. #hcsdinnovate#ReadyForTomorrow
1st grade Ss are growing as coders with Matatalab Coding. They used teamwork as they coded their bot- debugging along the way. Since it’s new, there are Tweets so they wrote scripts on How to Code w/Matatalab & created Clip videos to teach others. #hcsdinnovate#ReadyforTomorrow
@HoffmanTrailsEl Families Family Fun Night at The Hilliard Library! Enjoy teacher readers, learning about the incredible library programs, a scavenger hunt, Piggie & Gerald, hot cocao, & being TOGETHER! https://t.co/UjQjjy6VIj via @YouTube#ReadyForTomorrow#hcsdinnovate
4th grade Ss @HoffmanTrailsEl were engaged as Dr, Rachel Kajfez, shared about the Toy Adaptation Program at The Ohio State University. Play is how every child learns. Toys are adapted by adding circuits & switches. Ss will use design thinking to adapt toys for Ss. #hcsdinnovate
Ss @HoffmanTrailsEl love discovering & learning to grow micro-greens for our box turtles & ourselves. @HilliardEdFound Hydroponics Grant allows us to experience growing plants in an innovative way. Our STEM Grant will allow Ss to extend this to hydroponics.#hcsdinnovate
We are very excited to share that 6 of our Elementary Schools were awarded STEM Grants - $5000 each: Alton Darby, Brown, Crossing, Hoffman Trails, Horizon, and Ridgewood.

🍁Scholastic 📚Book Fair Browsing today and tomorrow! Students are all 😊smiles as they create Wish Lists that are also Next Reads Lists! Our goal is to grow our 🧠brains and fill our 💜 hearts. @HoffmanTrailsEl@Scholastic https://t.co/aWmDDBznhv
Coding allows Ss to go past just knowing how to use technology. It lets them create & invent new ways of thinking & designing as well as engaging & fun. Ss code a friend to build a sandcastle, a life cycle of a pumpkin, color coding Ozobots, & block coding w/Osmos. #hcsinnovate
HTE is inspired during the Flip Live Event- author, Jason Reynolds, shared about his writing process, how discovering your strength & joy can come by helping others. His latest 📕, Stuntboy’s super power is empowering others 2 shine. @MicrosoftFlip@HilliardSchools#hcsdinnovate
