CHI ONWURAH MP — YOUR TURN.
You’re the Labour MP for Newcastle upon Tyne Central and West, and since September 2024 you’ve chaired Parliament’s Science, Innovation and Technology Committee. MPs are currently paid £98,599, while qualifying select-committee chairs receive an additional £19,763 a year. UK Parliament
Now let’s look at the register.
In 2024, support linked to you and received by your local party included:
£10,000 — Dr Ewan Kirk
£2,000 — UNISON
Your register also recorded £23,302.50 of support from the Aziz Foundation, covering remuneration for an intern in your office. UK Parliament
And there’s the hospitality and travel.
Your current register records:
£4,491.21 — Wilton Park for a December 2025 trip to Seoul, including flights for you and hotel accommodation/hospitality for you and your partner.
£799.82 — Armed Forces Parliamentary Trust for flights to Brunei.
£336 — Newcastle Eagles Basketball for tickets and hospitality for you and three other people.
£500 — Newcastle College for a suit made by a student for your Damehood ceremony.
£275 — Newcastle City Council for a Mercury Prize ticket and hospitality.
£1,200 — BornGood Rebuyer Ltd in the form of three reconditioned laptops for work-experience students in your constituency office. UK Parliament
Older registers also show a £10,004 trip to California for you and your partner connected to the SynBioBeta conference and £1,519.65 of travel/accommodation/subsistence for a COP28 visit to Dubai funded by the Energy & Climate Intelligence Unit. UK Parliament
But the part that deserves particular scrutiny is the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards investigation.
The Commissioner found that you had breached Rule 5 of the MPs’ Code of Conduct on four separate occasions by registering interests outside Parliament’s 28-day deadline. They involved the Brunei flights, Brussels hospitality worth £406, a £1,000 Sephora goody bag, and another Brussels dinner worth £169 which became registrable when combined with hospitality from the same source. Parliament News
There is important context: you initially brought the Brunei issue to the Commissioner yourself. The Commissioner concluded the four failures were inadvertent, accepted your explanations concerning uncertainty over the rules, difficulties obtaining information from donors and sickness absence in your office, and dealt with the matter through Parliament’s rectification procedure rather than referring it to the Standards Committee. You acknowledged the breaches and apologised. Parliament News
You also currently declare residential property in Northumberland and a holiday apartment in Portugal, with neither currently showing registrable rental income. UK Parliament
So these are the questions worth answering publicly:
How does an experienced MP, in Parliament since 2010, end up breaching the registration rules four times?
What procedures changed in your office after the Commissioner’s investigation?
And will you publish a full, easily accessible breakdown of gifts, hospitality, overseas travel and political support so constituents don’t have to dig through parliamentary registers to find it?
@England That was not a tribute!!! Look at St James’ Park for a tribute. I could not believe how the players ran off before the time was up. Am I surprised? Sadly not.
@MartinSLewis Do you think the average voter is in the least interested. Ironically, donations to political parties is in the news now because it is Refirm. Cummings was right, they will do anything to bring them down.
This is astonishing.
The police have marched pro-migration protestors right into the area where the anti-invasion protestors were gathered.
The news reporter Mark White is astonished.
"I really have no answer as to why they've done that".
What on earth are the police playing at?
They must explain their actions immediately.
Nick Brown is trending again. I was told 20 odd years ago he ravished a rent boy so badly he has to wear a colostomy bag for the rest of his life.
In Tom Bower's book and in a court case it was alleged Brown liked "rough sex."
I wrote to the Labour Party they didn't reply.
Exactly 4 years ago Nick Brown was suspended from @UKLabour
The party conducts an investigation’ that was never completed.
Brown quietly resigns.
The party never informed the police.
The party never made any details public and the msm have shown zero interest.
🚨EXPOSED: Everyone meet Ed Davey (@EdwardJDavey) — current Lib Dem leader. (British political party)
From 2010 to 2012 he was the minister in charge of the Post Office.
The Post Office’s computer system was faulty. It wrongly showed money missing from local branches. Hundreds of innocent people who ran those Post Offices were accused of stealing, lost their businesses, went to court, and went to prison.
Alan Bates, who fought for them, asked Davey for a meeting in 2010. Davey said no ..it “would serve no useful purpose.”
At least 13 people later took their own lives because of what happened. Davey now says Post Office bosses lied to him.
The people whose lives were ruined say he should have done more.
Years later Davey was paid hundreds of thousands of pounds as a consultant by the law firm that then fought the Post Office’s victims in court.
Please don’t repost this, he doesn’t want anyone to know.
🚨 EMERGENCY WARNING TO EVERY PENSIONER IN GREAT BRITAIN: LABOUR IS PREPARING THE ULTIMATE WEALTH GRAB!
If you worked hard for 40 years, paid your taxes, and saved for retirement, Prime Minister Andy Burnham has just placed a massive target firmly on your back.
The highly influential IPPR think tank, which is packed with Burnham's own inner circle, just published the exact socialist blueprint Labour plans to use to bail out their bankrupt government. 🤡
Look at the terrifying three step robbery they are demanding for the October Budget.
First, slapping National Insurance directly onto the incomes of 9.6 million British pensioners.
Second, hiking capital gains tax to a staggering 40 percent to crush your investments.
Third, a devastating 0.65 percent annual property wealth tax just for the privilege of living inside your own family home!
They label you "wealthy" to justify stealing the nest egg you spent a lifetime building. Yet they magically find endless billions to house illegal arrivals in catered hotels without blinking an eye.
They treat the generation that built this country like an absolute cash machine while engineering our total national decline. The mask has completely slipped.
RT and SHARE this everywhere to warn every single retiree in Great Britain before Chancellor John Healey raids their bank accounts! 🇬🇧🔥
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Football needs to reevaluate its rules on finances. Teams being forced to sell their best players damages everything that is good about the competition. It’s killing the hopes, dreams and ambition of every club except the elite.
“Far more people are dying in Nigeria than in Palestine. Last year, 500,000 Christians were killed. But the activists are not protesting or saying anything. To me, that’s hypocrisy.” Well said.
