When I was 15 one of the boys in my class saw a tampon in my pencil case. He snatched it and they tossed it around the class, jeering at me. They even brought my business ed teacher in on the fun, told him I was bleeding and he tossed a tube of lip balm at me and told me to "plug myself up". If Andy Burnham gets his way in Makerfield because Rupert Lowe chose to stand a candidate, the consequences will be felt far beyond one constituency.

Burnham has made no secret of his ambitions. He wants to lead Labour and become Prime Minister.

That means more migration. More identity politics. More attempts to introduce de facto blasphemy laws through the back door. And once again, grooming gang victims risk being pushed aside and ignored.

Bank of England axes Winston Churchill, Alan Turing and Jane Austen from future banknotes after being told they are not “representative of the UK’s cultural and natural diversity”

The decision was made as part of the redesign of new polymer notes.

Officials were advised that the three historic figures do not reflect modern Britain’s diversity.

Churchill featured on the £5 note, Turing on the £50 note, and Austen on the £10 note.

The move has triggered fury from historians and politicians who called it an attempt to rewrite British history.

The Bank of England has confirmed the three will not feature on any forthcoming notes.
