We’re excited to share that our 7th graders - Ariana, Braelyn, J’adore & teachers- Mrs. Mongold and Mrs. Whorton were nationally recognized by @PBS at the @ReportingLabs Awards!
The award for 'BEST PIECE BY A MIDDLE SCHOOL' at the 2020-21 #SRLAwards goes to @IPROMISESchool in Ohio for their story on modern day heroes for Black History Month. https://t.co/1XQKxM7SwK
The Global Threads project focused on engaging with local members of Akron’s Karen and Congolese refugee community in their language arts, media tech, and social studies classes. Everything learned was documented, developed and published to their website for the public to see!
This small group of student news reporters spent countless hours during and after school, working hard with professionals from @ReportingLabs, and their teachers @SusanMongold and @Angel_Whorton, to make sure their stories were heard and ready for T.V.
As part of our ‘Earned Not Given’ philosophy, @PBS hooked these hardworking students up with some swag & a ring light to continue sharing their stories at home, because they earned it.
The future is looking bright for these students.💡Thank you, PBS! 😁 #JustKidsFromAkron
These @ReportingLabs students are inspiring! Learn how schools and students worked together--and involved families & communities, too--to connect, interview, and develop media literacy skills via storytelling.
