I hope all those currently planning, & packing for, their summer holidays encounter fewer obstacles than Myrtle Broome did when preparing for her first camel trek in 1930's Egypt: https://t.co/dSfFJpwunY. Thanks to The Griffith Institute-Oxford, @britishmuseum & @BusheyMuseum
I admire Myrtle Broome, artist in 1930s Egypt for many things, including her skill as an artist & dedication to learning Arabic, but her determination to learn to ride a camel is also impressive: https://t.co/4rY7Jdfahy Thanks to @BusheyMuseum for the photo
How did you entertain any Christmas visitors? In 1930s Egypt, Myrtle Broome & Amice Calverley offered their visitors a variety of music, amateur dramatics, desert picnics, children's parties, badminton and even a gun salute: https://t.co/GxfafFcJVL
My latest post on Myrtle Broome in 1930s Egypt for @GriffithOxford includes the reappearance of one of the French travellers featured in @TheEES 's recent spotlight talk on Consuls, Travellers & Spies (now on Youtube) - and a lot of chickens and eggs! https://t.co/1RjRhAJS3d
If snakes were scary in my recent post about Myrtle Broome for @GriffithOxford. my latest post about mad dogs, camel bites and the risk of rabies is even more alarming - thank goodness for Louis Pasteur! https://t.co/9Q6rx0pldJ
@Lucy_Worsley As well as your other books, always have a book in your bag, so you have something to read with your tea/coffee, or when waiting for a friend or a bus etc. I find short stories & travel writing work well for short bursts of reading
My latest post about Myrtle Broome in 1930s Egypt for @GriffithOxford is all about snakes - I'd have run a mile, but Myrtle was made of sterner stuff! https://t.co/5dsiNjgHDz. Thanks as always to @GriffithOxford, & to @TheEES for the extract from Myrtle's painting
As a cat-lover myself, I really enjoyed researching and writing my latest post about Myrtle Broome for @GriffithOxford's blog. @CGraves88, one for Elton?
