Once you have lived inside the world of grief, you are never the same.Your heart beats differently, and your tears flow more often.Your love increases for your circle of people. You learn the sacredness of holding space for grief and the impact it has on you… #grief#depression
If we can still weep with compassion for strangers, sacrifice something for another’s wellbeing, if we’re still willing to forgive & be forgiven, still willing to try again, if we still have faith the size of a mustard seed, then light broke through the darkness in the year 2020.
I mostly feel like my life is an exercise in discovering through God’s providence & discipline just how much more committed God is to my freedom & liberation than I am.
Refuse to hate. Reject it outright. Where it’s infected us, let’s repent of it & ask God to replace hostility with compassion. The natural defense to a hateful world is to become hateful people but Jesus said they’d know us by our love. These brutal days are taking a toll on us.
The current state of American Evangelicalism is what we get when the gospel is reduced to an entrance exam instead of a whole way of living, serving, loving & self-giving. The point of discipleship & Bible study is to grow in relationship with Christ and in resemblance to Christ.
In an effort to steer away from a health & wealth, hip & cool prosperity gospel, we spend copious amounts of time finishing this sentence: “Jesus never promised us...” OK then, what DID He promise His followers this side of heaven?

*Gifted
*Effective

Dear Church,
Jesus believed women.
Protected women.
Empowered women.
Honored women publicly.
Released the voice of women.
Confided in women.
Was funded by women.
Celebrated women by name.
Learned from women.
Respected women.
And spoke of women as examples to follow.
Your turn.
We can rarely undo
what others have done
but we can dang well do
something different.
Real change takes hard work.
Quit complaining from the bleachers if you’re unwilling to sweat on the field.
Talk means nothing.
They talked, too.
Criticizing’s for cowards.
Doing gets it done.

Katie Hawkins & @SusanWanderer are used to being the ones asking questions in their podcast, but TCC got a chance to ask them some questions, capturing their inspiring story. Page 12.
