@KnowingBetterYT@NLRG_it Yeah, I knew a dude who had an associates degree at 16, and he said that he was too immature for it. Sadly, he went on to have a psychotic break in his 30s. Idk if the two are correlated, but something about putting that amount of pressure on kids' achievement seems detrimental.
@Flaneuse1018331 @Mary77749@KnowingBetterYT Listen. Without oversight, the potential for abuse is simply too high. There needs to be someone other than just the parents in the child's life.
@EthereumWave@serraotweets@KnowingBetterYT I am asking which states have all homeschoolers take the SAME tests as everyone else. From what I've seen, it does NOT have to be the same test.
Though, I am glad that some states require tests! Could the homeschooling lobby please stop resisting this requirement?
@Flaneuse1018331 @Mary77749@KnowingBetterYT The truth is that the homeschool community should be glad to have some oversight, as that'll catch neglectful parents who do lasting harm to their children.
Oh, and pretty much all of the homeschool kids I knew were taught creationism, which is also unacceptable.
@Flaneuse1018331 @Mary77749@KnowingBetterYT Don't get me wrong. I knew homeschoolers who got associates degrees at 16 as well. But what homeschooling needs is legislation to give some oversight and accountability. I knew a kid who didn't know what a triangle was until she was 9. This is unacceptable. (cont.)
@Flaneuse1018331 @cupcakeboner@KnowingBetterYT@RyanJamesLoyd Unfortunately, AI is notorious for writing poorly. Ask it to write a poem, and you'll see what I mean. It spits out trite garbage with no sense of meter or style.
@ULTRAMAGlC@KnowingBetterYT Did you know that there are online public school options now? I like this option over independent homeschooling because it provides oversight.
@magicinthealps@KnowingBetterYT Yes it is. That's why he used it as an example: even this terrible idea is better than home schooling. He isn't suggesting that parents actually try this.
I don't even know if I agree with him, but I am surprised by how poorly some of you are understanding his point.
@EthereumWave@serraotweets@KnowingBetterYT Yes, I know this. I was homeschooled in TN, and my mom had to take initiative and sign up for standardized tests because it wasn't required. I was asking about the study you mentioned where ALL homeschool kids in the state have to take the same test as public school kids?
@6_shadow_7 @DanielJetsSkis@KnowingBetterYT@RyanJamesLoyd His reply wasn't cruel? It was pretty tame, literally just pointing out how over-the-top and arrogant he was being. I am, admittedly, a sensitive person, and even I don't have an issue with that comment. Maybe he could've dropped the "lol"?
