Grieve these things out of my control
Surrender those coping skills that hurt me + my loved ones
Choose to trust Him who created us + sees me.
Accept what I can’t control.
Fight for what I can.
On repeat.
I find the passages in scripture that highlights Jesus leaving the crowds to be so challenging but incredibly important.
He healed so many, but he disappointed many as well.
What an example. No matter how much good we do, for the sake of our health, we just need to step away.
Yes. His presence is always with us. Our hearts shift to experience Him.
This helps me to not feel like I need to say a perfect prayer or have a perfect posture to “bring” Him here.
My heart shifts. Then I remember.
So many points of pain in our world. As Sunday worship approaches, I’m reminded that our gatherings are not to be a distraction from the trouble, but a time to heighten our awareness of God’s presence and receive nourishment for the journey.
5 questions that help me gauge my spiritual health:
Am I giving myself to intentional times of prayer?
Am I committed to interior examination?
Am I joining my life to the poor & marginalized?
Am I connected to others in ways that foster vulnerability?
Am I growing in love?
The bible doesn't end with souls ascending to a disembodied heaven. It ends with a fully embodied heaven descending to earth
The resurrection is the good news that God in Christ is committed to the renewal, reconciliation & resurrection of all things—and so should the Church be.
"We have all used the phrase, 'Time heals all wounds'-- actually it's not true. The research shows that meaning is what heals all wounds. When we can find meaning for what we're going through, that's what allows us to move forward and heal." -Dr. Michelle Pearce on @cxmhpodcast
Sometimes people think they have a high threshold for pain, when really they’ve just been conditioned to accept harm.
May you find your voice.
May you find your no.
May your healing come.
@DanKoch And I agree with others— trauma has more complexities that we assume at first glance. Attachment traumas (repeated-moderate or occasional-big ones) change how we respond in fight or flight later in life.
@DanKoch I think I understand— reactivity is an important concept with trauma theories. How do we react VS. respond has a lot to do with an over firing amygdala.
Not responding as trained in battle could be the person moving outside if their window of tolerance & shutting down.
4 questions we need to regularly prayerfully process in solitude and in community:
1. What am I mad about?
2. What am I sad about?
3. What am I anxious about?
4. What am I glad about?
These simple questions have a way of unlocking parts of our soul.
