The Turandot Armor Costume was conceived as a sustainable alternative to traditional operatic costumes, which often become obsolete after a single season and contribute to fashion waste. Addressing this issue, the design embraces circular economy principles by incorporating upcycled materials and innovative biomaterials derived from orange waste. Knitting deadstock was repurposed to create the costume, reducing textile waste while promoting environmental responsibility. This project not only reimagines costume design with eco-conscious techniques but also challenges the operatic industry to adopt more sustainable practices without compromising artistic expression.
