3 mandates, 1 yet not met: “Now that we’ve got the public health and safety stuff out of the way, or on the way, I think you’re absolutely right we should absolutely take a closer look at ‘okay, what do we do then to make sure that this is a beneficial industry’?” PMJT March2023
ICYMI CTAC has consistently advocated for allowing cannabis production on the ALR. Our ED, @rosymondin made the case in the @timescolonist. https://t.co/k6YD6Xzk0x
Coming up at 10 AM: Emerging debates in BC about the merits of cannabis cultivation in the Agricultural Land Reserve.
with @Adam_Stirling & Reid Parr, Director/Industry Consultant at @SustainableCTAC
Cannabis farming is still farming our Executive Director, @rosymondin, writes in the Times Colonist, arguing for the BC government not to restrict cannabis production on the ALR. https://t.co/k6YD6Xzk0x
Game on! @rosymondin & I are going to testify at the Senate May 23 and 24. @drmarkaware is up May May 9. If you could give the Senate one message, what would it be? Amnesty? Insurance and tax? Extracts? Driving? Potency? Listen to the many government reports that came before you?
CTAC recently wrote to British Columbia's Minister's Advisory Committee on the Agricultural Land Reserve to advocate for the inclusion of cannabis cultivation for recreational purposes as a permitted use on the ALR. Our full submission can be viewed here: https://t.co/L4qyNnCgx2
Popped by the Capital Media Studios for a #420 fireside chat with @MarkBunting_ about $QCC, #cannabis in the Canadian Senate, the importance of government engagement.
What is @learnaboutsam: who writes their policy positions & what are SAM’s "agendas" behind its content? @amanda_siebert writes them up & takes them down in this excellent exposé: https://t.co/0SrlrdEpBl @ISGSenate#cndpoli https://t.co/ELAmnHhaYL
Get out of the #Vancouver rain and into the Grassroots #Cannabis Expo (by the @georgiastraight), a consumer-focused conference. Join me (Sunday, 130pm) and my amazing industry colleagues UBC Robson Square https://t.co/2qdU5TPW5o
Last week Parliamentary Secretary to @RalphGoodale - @markhollandlib - definitively stated on @charlesadler that cannabis kills more people by driving high than by driving drunk. Despite the evidence https://t.co/u4tmZ6fpCD
Lab testing will occur under legalization. Minors will have harder access under legalization.
What we won’t have however is a diminishment of the “Under-Regulated” (ie black) Market if we don’t address these issues.
We can’t take anything for granted at this stage. The work is not yet done federally. We need a strategy. No time for ego-posturing - time to get the job done. We need OpEds, letters to Senators, meetings with Senators - we need to come together quick; the clock is ticking
What’s happening in the Senate regarding #C45 should be a wake-up call to our whole industry. Home grow, outdoor grow, potency caps on concentrates, minimum age - these policies are all hanging in the balance...We need to get together and message together. We have about 6-weeks. https://t.co/B8GfXQix7g
Senator @TonyDean_TO is doing a great job leading this file. There’s a fair amount of pushback by some - the Senator is working hard to get this through and he’ll continue to shine as #C45 proceeds to Committee and 3rd reading https://t.co/ET3xLHpRnp
@rosymondin of @sustainableCTAC: The end brand depends on standardization to produce a consistent product. You shouldn’t get three different results from three different labs. Automation technology is helping to reduce errors.

@rosymondin of @SustainableCTAC: With automated monitoring and processes, the technician running the extraction machine doesn’t need to be your scientist — that's where the real value is drawn.
