@Henryz_mom Please pay attention to traffic violence, @SecretaryPete.
Though I wasn't killed when I was hit by a car, I am one of nearly 5,000,000 Americans whose lives are changed each year due to car crashes; beyond the 43k killed & all the ripple effects to family, friends & communities.

Hello friends, we're changing from Carfree Academy to Sustainability Stories to focus on a broader form of change.
"Car-free" still has a negative connotation - esp in the States - of something being taken away, rather than moving towards a better quality of life for all.
@jahorne Absolutely! I have been saying this for years too. I think all elected leaders should be required to RELY on transit, not just take it occasionally. Only when you Need transit for life (not just photo-ops) can you truly understand what people are dealing with.
@maxdubler I used to work at a place in New Orleans with the motto "you can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning"... accurate but not a great way to live
@tarapham It's always seemed to me that people think of "pedestrians" as OTHER people, even though everyone is a pedestrian at least sometimes.
I wish we didn't only refer to people by their means of travel.
