Taeyang is known for his incredible voice, and is considered one of the best vocalists in South Korea by music critics! He found fame as the Main Vocalist and Main Dancer of the legendary Group BigBang, dubbed "Kings of K-pop", who spread the Korean Wave globally and are considered one of the most influential acts in K-pop with their trendsetting musical experimentation, self-production, and live performance! They have gone to #1 on the Gaon Digital chart in Korea with 11 singles, holding atop the Melon charts for a record 51 weeks! Forbes Korea ranked them as one of the most powerful celebrities in South Korea from 2009 to 2016, placing #2 in 2009, 2012 and 2014! They were the first Korean Act to be included on the Forbes Celebrity 100 (2016) and 30 Under 30 list of most influential musicians in the world in 2017!

Taeyang originally trained to be a rapper but debuted in 2006 with BigBang as a singer. He is not only an amazing vocalist but also a very charismatic performer and entertainer and key to BigBang's global success. He's also a real musician and can play the piano. After several chart-topping albums and EPs with the group, Taeyang became a very successful Soloist in his own right after the release of his first EP 'Hot' in 2008. The critically acclaimed EP won the award for Best R&B & Soul Album at the 6th Korean Music Awards! After the success of 'Hot', Taeyang released his first full-length studio album 'Solar' (2010), which reached #1 on the Gaon Album Chart. Taeyang's 2nd studio album 'Rise' (2014) reached #112 on the US Billboard 200, becoming the highest ranking album by a Korean soloist on the chart, while its lead single, "Eyes, Nose, Lips" reached #1 on the Billboard K-pop Hot 100 and was one of the most popular songs in South Korea during 2014, winning Song of the Year at the MAMA Awards, Melon Music Awards, and Golden Disc Awards! His 3rd studio album, 'White Night', released in 2017, topped the Billboard's World Digital Albums for 2 weeks, making Taeyang the 2nd solo K-Pop artist to do so.

Taeyang has won several awards including 2 Golden Disc Awards, 3 Korean Music Awards, including Male Musician of the Year in 2011, 3 Melon Music Awards and 4 MAMA Awards. In 2017, Taeyang was appointed honorary ambassador for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, and was named GQ Korea's Man of the Year in 2008, 2010 and 2017, and voted the 5th best role model of 2014!

In 2017, Taeyang became the Korean ambassador for Lexus, composing and writing the lyrics for their promotional song "So Good". He also partnered with Fendi to design an exclusive capsule collection line "Fendi for Taeyang" ft. T-shirts, hoodies, jackets, accessories and sneakers with his signature daisy-shaped motifs and positive words like, "Faith", "Grace", "Saved", and "Passion". In 2023, Taeyang became the global brand ambassador of Givenchy.

Taeyang is also a philanthropist and in 2010 he donated part of his income from albums, goods, tickets and digital music sales to YG Entertainment's 'With' campaign. Taeyang raised $5,180 in 2014 for the May 18 Memorial Foundation in celebration of his birthday. In 2015 he and his fans donated water wells known as "Taeyang's water" to help provide clean water to communities in need in Cambodia and Myanmar for 3 consecutive years via the international charity organization Worldshare!
