@caromholland The whole PhD experience has been sobering to say the least. I would say it killed most of my passion for the field and for life (those who relocate and put life on hold to do a PhD might relate). Hoping all this suffering will be worth it.
Many academics are already desensitised before/without the pandemic. Years of hierarchical abuse, ruthless competition and social isolation make many unable to process information in an empathic way or just turn them into predators.
@thephdstory Yoga, meditation and self forgiveness for all the time lost. Grounding self in something is important; a daily activity regardless of what’s happening, positive self talk, reading something exciting even if not relevant, cooking nutritious food..

@Muna_Abdi_Phd Coffee, reading for dissertation work, then yoga followed by a cold shower. But I’m starting to reach my limit and losing all motivation and focus. Today I can’t focus and have a stress headache. Writing a PhD didn’t need to get more difficult!
