It's Sunday, so we're going to St Mary’s church again for today’s #festivalofarchaeology feature.
The churches our ancestors built show how important the #Church was to them. Rich men spent fortunes demonstrating their piety through #religious buildings and art they commissioned.

Today’s #festivalofarchaeology exploration is a relatively recent one. It was built within the lifetime of some #Newington residents (not all #archaeology is ancient!). A double air raid shelter can be seen over the wall in Station Passage, between Station Road and Church Lane.

Visit the @avenue_theatre today between 11am-3pm to see the fascinating 'Tribute to Leo Rawlings', a Prisoner of War artist who spent over 3 years on the notorious 'RAILWAY OF DEATH'. A short 15 minute film will play at 30 minute intervals throughout the exhibition. FREE ENTRY!
