In a major crackdown on narcotics, Mayabunder Police intercepted a passenger arriving onboard MV Nalanda from Kolkata and seized approximately 1 Kg of illicit Ganja during a special operation at Mayabunder Jetty.

The accused was arrested under the NDPS Act after observing all legal formalities. The operation highlights the district police’s unwavering vigilance and zero-tolerance stand against drug trafficking.

ILLEGAL LIQUOR BUSTED

In a swift operation deep inside the forests of Shaktigarh, the staff of Police Station Rangat busted an illicit liquor manufacturing setup. Illicit liquor was seized, one accused was booked under the Excise Regulation, and around 120 litres of Lehan along with brewing materials were destroyed on the spot.

On 04/05/2026, acting on credible intel, PS Billiground launched a swift strike in the Nimbudera forest, busting an illegal liquor setup hidden deep inside. The team seized 02 drums containing around 400 litres of fermented wash (Lehan). With no claimant found, the entire stock was destroyed on the spot as per due procedure. Cracking down hard. Acting on credible input, a team from PS Billiground led by SI P.C. Manickam, SHO, along with ASIs Pradeep Kr. Kindo & Sunil, HCs Abhijeet, Samir & Sheela, and PCs Selvam, Litton, Manojeet, Sony & Sagar conducted a raid at Thoratang.

After an intensive search, including digging the earth, a hidden stash of liquor buried underground was unearthed.

A total of 177 sealed IMFL bottles of various brands were seized. The accused has been arrested and legal action initiated.
