@PmorkenX some perspective might help here: id software listens to their fans and wanted to expand on the lore becasue many people wanted more of it...they figure they didnt have to alienate the part of the fan base that doesnt care for it because those ppl can easily skip it.
@NBDanTE@IdleSloth84_ The two big names for the tech are Tiago Sousa and Billy Khan, they have been there for a long time. Tiago a bit after Carmack left and Billy was there during DOOM 3 or Rage
Hugo Martin (studio head of id Software) talks about the studio and its future.
“There have been reports that we've been nerfed into the ground and gutted, and we are not; we have 50 people, and that's not true. We're the size we were when we made Doom 2016, and IDTech is very much alive and well. The, you have to understand, we have idTech engineers both in Frankfurt and, you know, at Machine Games; we collaborate quite a bit. So, you know, the IDTech is there, the Doom team is here, and we're excited to work on; to share with you guys more of what we're working on in the future when it is appropriate and approved.”

On my 2nd playthrough of DOOM the Dark Ages Revelations and man the level of detail and art in these levels are just jaw dropping. I've spent so much time just admiring all the work and taking it in...id software you cooked so hard!
@shotgunless it will happen, it's just human nature for some to succumb to being used to a thing, getting good at it and then failing to get the same level of play on a mechanic that flips everything on its head. Some ppl take that as a challenge and some people go cry somewhere.
@KingSavageAxe It's common in the fps community...grown men loyal to what they get accustomed and good at and if another game comes in an makes them feel like a noob, they start clutching on them pearls. DOOM 2016 is an amazing game with an underrated MP. But DE and DTDA clears.
@TheyMadAtMeLol@JavaidUsama Definitely miss the glory kills of 2016 and Eternal, but to someone that has played at least 1000hrs on both of these games DTDA Revelations feels just as hectic if not more than Eternal. The AI swarms better and you take more damage from things not in your POV.
Surprised i haven't heard anyone comment how freakin visceral and solid the OG DOOM levels are in Revelations. the 93 shotgun just SLAPs and the sounds are so damn crisp. I would easily pay any dollar amount for DOOM to be ported into this engine as it is represented here. Love!
