~repost~
Its been a great week at Swansea Debating, we've had our Christmas Debate, our Christmas Meal, and we've even given out end-of-semester awards.
Congratulations to Nomthandazo Moyo, Enzo Tobias, and Harry Mason for their awards! ๐พ๐
Reminder that tonight we will be having a fun-debate social at 7pm in Faraday B. The motion won't be serious, and drinking will be encouraged (although not mandatory!).
Looking forward to seeing you all there ๐๐ป
I want to say well done to everyone who went to Welsh Nationals with us this year, none of us managed to break but its been a great experience!
We've seen great progress from all our novices, and next year we will go back stronger than ever! Besides Swansea can't win everything
We will also be having an committee election on Tuesday the 8th February. We encourage anyone interested to give it a go, and we will give out more details on how to run during this week's meetings.
Look forward to seeing you guys debating this semester!
We're happy to announce that we will be debating every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm in Faraday B, starting tomorrow!
Everybody is welcome to attend, both old and new members, and we'll be making sure to teach the basics to any new members of the society this semester.
With over half of the debaters in the finals being from Swansea, and Varun coming top speaker, we can say this has been a great success for our society. After a tough few years, especially due to to the pandemic, I hope this will inspire a new generation of debaters at Swansea!
I want to publicly say how proud we are of all our debaters who went to Welsh Novices this year! A special congratulations to Nomthandazo Moyo and Joshua Ireland for winning the tournament! Additionally, congratulations Tom Plan, Enzo Tobias, and Varun GS for reaching the finals.
I want to thank everyone who participated in debating society this semester! Everyone's come a long way in improving their debating skills, and I hope you had some fun along the way.
We at Swansea Debating Society wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy Saint Friedman Day! ๐
We will post reminders for all events via the Facebook group or via email. If you wish to be added to the email list, or if you have any other questions please let me know!
