On June 1, the Embassy of Ukraine in Canada @a_plakhotniuk, in cooperation with @SwedeninCAN and the Embassy of Lithuania in Canada, held the 13th meeting of the Friends of Ukraine Group with a focus on the Ukraine Transport Support Fund (UTSF) - a recently launched joint initiative of Ukraine, Canada, Sweden, and Lithuania aimed at supporting the recovery and long-term development of Ukraine’s transport sector.
The discussion brought together Canada’s Minister of Transport and Leader of the Government in the House of Commons, the Honourable @stevenmackinnon, representatives of @Transport_gc, @GAC_Corporate, the diplomatic community, as well as Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine - Minister for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine @MinForUADev Oleksii Kuleba and Deputy Minister Serhiy Derkach, who joined virtually from Kyiv.
As Russia continues its brutal attacks against Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure, international support remains critical to rebuilding transport networks that connect communities, sustain economic activity, and support recovery efforts across the country.
We sincerely thank Canada, Sweden, and Lithuania for their partnership and leadership, and extend our special appreciation to Minister MacKinnon, the Ambassador of Sweden, Her Excellency Signe Burgstaller, and the Ambassador of Lithuania, His Excellency Egidijus Meilūnas, for their continued support of Ukraine and their active role in advancing the Ukraine Transport Support Fund.
Together, we are investing not only in infrastructure, but in Ukraine’s resilience, recovery, and future.

Today, Minister for Foreign Affairs @MariaStenergard presented Sweden’s new Arctic Strategy.
The Strategy reflects a new security situation – the most serious for Sweden since the Second World War. The Strategy reinforces Swedish Arctic policy by defining the links between security policy, resilient communities, the economy, and the environment and climate. The aim of Sweden’s Arctic policy is a peaceful and secure Arctic, with sustainable and resilient communities and reduced environmental and climate impact.

Canada has decided to move forward with Saab GlobalEye as its new airborne capability for Airborne Early Warning and Control. I look forward to welcoming Canada into the GlobalEye family.
GlobalEye is a highly modern and capable system that now has earned the trust of a fourth country, in addition to Sweden, France and the UAE.
By operating Global Eye, Canada strengthens its ability to safeguard their sovereignty while contributing to NATO’s collective defence, including being a vital asset for surveillance and control of the Arctic region.
As the GlobalEye is based on the Canadian Bombardier Global 6500 platform, GlobalEye is already creating jobs in Canada, and working with the Canadian supply chain. This decision ties our two nations even closer together.
Welcome aboard the GlobalEye family, Canada!
Sweden has a smaller population than London. Still, Sweden produces our own fighter jets, submarines, AWACs aircraft and launches satellites into space.
Like Saab and Bombardier, Sweden and Canada stand stronger together.
Friends, partners, allies.
Amis, partenaires, alliés.
Honored to host the seven Arctic Allies on the margins of the NATO Foreign Ministers Meeting in Helsingborg today. A7 will continue cooperating on Arctic security and shaping NATO’s role in the Arctic and the High North.
