Thank you, Minister of Social Affairs @HaneenSayed_LB, for an inspiring and constructive meeting on your ambitious agenda to strengthen Lebanonโs social protection system and assist conflict-affected communities.

Great meeting with Justice Minister Adel Nassar today. Looking forward to strengthening the excellent bilateral cooperation and partnership between Sweden and Lebanon ๐ธ๐ช๐ฑ๐ง
Important and insightful discussions in Tyre and Saida with displaced people from the south, forced to flee their homes following the destruction of their livelihoods and infrastructure. The visits were conducted alongside our humanitarian partner OCHA (Lebanon Humanitarian Fund), as well as the embassies of Spain, Norway, and Belgium.
1/4 In Tyre and Saida ๐ฑ๐ง, alongside @BelgiumLebanon ๐ง๐ช, @NorwayinLeb_Syr ๐ณ๐ด, @EmbEspanaLibano ๐ช๐ธ and @SwedenInLebanon ๐ธ๐ช, we met with people whose lives have been affected by the conflict, with many facing displacement, lost livelihoods and damaged infrastructure.

"Girls need more than opportunities. They need the skills and support to shape their own futures."
During a visit to Baalbek, an inspiring young woman shared how she has found strength to be more outspoken. In a response to me, stating my eagerness as a newcomer to learn more about Lebanon, she quickly suggested: "Learn Arabic!" I certainly should. ๐ฑ๐ง
Girls empowerment as a result of groundbreaking support from the Ministry of Social Affairs, @UNICEF and @UNFPA ๐ธ๐ช
Girls need more than opportunities. They need the skills and support to shape their own futures. ๐
At a Social Development and Primary Healthcare Centre in Baalbeck, we saw how Mustaqbali Khayari, the first joint UNICEF and @UNFPALebanon programme in #Lebanon, is supporting adolescent girls to build life skills, access supportive protection and health services, and benefit from positive parenting.
Funded by @SwedenInLebanon, the programme helps girls grow with confidence, stay safe and make informed choices about their lives, free from violence. #ForEveryGirl
A completely different reality, yet the parents of displaced Lebanese and Syrian families want the exact same things I do: a safe place to live, a good education for their children, and the chance to build a better future. An enlightening, humbling and deeply moving visit to the Bekaa Valley with the UNHCR. ๐ฑ๐ง
๐ฅ In the Bekaa with the Ambassador of @SwedenInLebanon, meeting displaced Syrian and Lebanese families and hearing about their challenges, resilience & hopes.
Thanks to Swedenโs flexible support, UNHCR continues to provide protection and vital assistance to those most in need.
Important discussions today with Army Commander, General Rudolph Haykal, on the current situation and developments in Lebanon and the region.

Culture is what tells us what it means to be human. A warm and stimulating conversation with H.E. Minister of Culture @GhassanSalame. Lebanonโs wealth of cultural heritage is a source of national pride, identity and cohesion; something to learn from, cherish and protect for the future.
We discussed how culture, shared heritage and memory can play an important role in state-building and in strengthening a sense of common belonging in Lebanon an in the bilateral relations between ๐ธ๐ช and ๐ฑ๐ง
Sweden remains firmly committed to supporting stability in Lebanon and the vital work of @UNIFIL in implementing UN Resolution 1701. Let the weapons fall silent so that diplomacy can be heard. Continued international cooperation and dialogue are essential for achieving long-term peace. ๐ธ๐ช๐บ๐ณ๐ฑ๐ง
Today, I briefed troop-contributing countries in Beirut on the situation on the ground in south Lebanon, @UNIFIL_โs work under resolution 1701, and our continued support to the @LebarmyOfficial and local communities.
Pleased to have attended the 2026 Samir Kassir Award Ceremony. Congratulations to this yearโs winners - journalists from Lebanon, Palestine, Syria and Iraq https://t.co/HKtIB8qOMz

Deeply moved by the heartbreaking stories shared by families forced to flee their homes, from the South and from Syria. Our support through UNHCR and close cooperation with the government of Lebanon and local authorities is even more critical now. Sweden continues to advocate for the ultimate goal: de-escalation and ensuring conditions for a safe, sustainable, voluntary, and dignified return by displaced families in Lebanon and refugees from Syria.
๐ธ๐ช๐ค๐ฑ๐ง @UNHCRLebanon
In the Bekaa with Ambassador Tomas Brundin of @SwedenInLebanon.
Meeting displaced Syrian & Lebanese families and local authorities to hear how ๐ธ๐ชโs steadfast & flexible support helps sustain dignity, resilience & hope where & when itโs most needed.
