Have you heard of Raoul Wallenberg? He was a Swedish diplomat who saved tens of thousands of Jews from the Holocaust. His civil courage and acts of solidarity remind us of the importance of combatting antisemitism and racism. We honour his memory today on Raoul Wallenberg Day.
Why is there a Nobel Prize? It’s all because of Alfred Nobel.
The Nobel Prize was set up when businessman and entrepreneur Alfred Nobel died and left most of his fortune to the establishment of prizes in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature and peace. His will stated that the prizes should be awarded to “those who, during the preceding year, shall have conferred the greatest benefit to humankind.”

Today we mark the Independence Day of Ukraine 🇺🇦🇸🇪
On 24 August 1991, Ukraine declared independence from the Soviet Union – a crucial step in Ukrainians’ long fight for freedom and national autonomy.
Today, Ukraine and the Ukrainian people are once again defending their freedom and independence against Russia’s full-scale invasion. Sweden stands by Ukraine’s side – today and every day.

🆕 NATO modernises its 'eyes in the sky'

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, Minister for Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard and Minister for Defence Pål Jonson are now in Ankara for the NATO Summit.
Earlier this year, Sweden hosted the meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Helsingborg, just two years after joining the Alliance.
This was an opportunity for Sweden to show that through its NATO membership it has found its rightful home – and an opportunity for NATO to visit Sweden at home.
The meeting in Helsingborg also set the tone for the NATO Summit in Ankara on 7–8 July.
The agenda for the Summit includes the Allied countries’ commitments for a stronger NATO, a stronger defence industry and continued support to Ukraine.
Sweden is taking its responsibility. We are making the necessary investments to build a stronger Europe and a stronger NATO together with other Allies.

Great news! I am proud that NATO has chosen the Swedish platform GlobalEye as the Alliance’s new platform for airborne early warning and control.
GlobalEye will contribute greatly to core needs for our collective defense. Great for NATO and great day for Swedish jobs 🤝
