Love the Habs, Red Sox & Patriots! I have spent my life studying sabermetrics and applying them to sports. My passion as child was to live long enough to see t
@paul32r @WallyEatsCats Makes way more sense given Mayer is SS of future but also Mayer's almost zero experience at 2B would make it easier for him to have serious knee injury on a slide while turning DP and Hammy (with good D at 2B but terrible at SS) could give Story days off against tough RHP.
@ballfan2961454@BOSSportsGordo@LouMerloni@JeffPassan@WEEI Stories before Breggy signed are so overblown. Why create issues with Devers when Breggy insisting on 5 yrs so probably not signing? What is not mentioned: how Dever's probably felt about Cora's bromance with Breggy & then telling Devers that his golden boy was replacing him.
@DanBFox1287 Totally agree but also another factor: an assumption Campbell was in an offensive slump & would rebound to closer to his April production. 1B would keep his bat in lineup. However, much more than a slump. Why play a 1B who is close to league worst bat & learning position?
@BOSSportsGordo@NESN@WebsterOnTV and we remain undefeated since Anthony changed from number 48 to 19. His number change will go down in history as the turning point of the season! :)
@SmittyOnMLB@jerseynumbers_ I appreciate your info and takes and totally agree with you. If someone does not hussle or run out a ground ball, they should be benched. And if you are so injured you are not even able to run a short distance in a straight line, you are too injured to be playing.
@BOSSportsGordo Would have been a sin for 8 straight balls to take a win away from Giolito after the way he pitched! I think Weissert should pick up the tab for dry cleaning my underwear! LOL
@IanCundall Hope I don't jinx him but of his last 6 starts including tonight we have won 5 of them - the only loss was a 2-1 loss to Orioles where he pitched very well.
@BostonStrong_34 and a 4 pitch walk to the number 9 hitter does not inspire confidence! In a 2 run game, he needs to throw nothing but strikes to number 9 hitter.
@BostonStrong_34 yes what a start by Giolito! 10 Ks, 3 hit shutout. Do they bring him back after 91 pitches? He has tended to lose it in a hurry when his pitch count gets up. If Gio & Buehler keep pitching like this, we can make serious run at the playoffs!!!!
@sjcurtin12 @ChrisCotillo lying? A change of plans/direction especially after injuries/performance issues is not lying: it is part of competing to win. If Devers plays 1B, as Buster Posey stated he would, does that mean Devers was lying to the Red Sox/fans when he clearly stated he would not play 1B?
@C_J_Shorey@SoxBooth@bradfo Something like the first line about it being a "little thing" could have been scripted but no way his response after that is scripted "Who is making it a big thing though?" is not a scripted line, nor none of his remarks following that.
@SoxBooth@bradfo Clearly shows that Duran (probably more) think Devers is "one little thing!" His response to suggestion it is a big thing is absolutely priceless! "Who is making it a big thing though?" then "Yeah" (with tone) "Yeah ... BUT.... 26 guys....only 1 guy."
@LaserShow_15_ @SoxBooth@bradfo Totally agree! If they cared about winning, no one would like Devers comments focused only on "I" & "ME," and never mentioning the team while the team was struggling!
@ChrisCotillo You nailed it! Showed daily on the field with a lot of mental errors that lead to losses. Cora's interview certainly sounds like it was well discussed internally. Duran's interview is priceless "One little thing.......Who is making it a big thing though? 26 guys, only 1 guy"
@LarryHockett88 @SoxBooth@bradfo Yes! Love Duran "one little thing!" Then his response to question along the lines of not a little thing but a big thing. is absolutely priceless! "Who is making it a big thing though?" then "Yeah" (with tone) "Yeah he is a great player BUT......" then 26 players only 1 guy!
@IanMBrowne Very accurate- very, very deliberate and intentional about Anthony & Mayer. He was grilled on radio and social media for weeks to move quicker. I applaud that they finally did something - we need more of what Breggy/Duran are doing and less of what Devers did.
@tylermilliken_ Cora does not have a problem speaking his mind. Went out of his way to say he had an idea what was going on "obviously" but it was not a given & front office/ownership do an "amazing" job. Appears that Cora/Breslow/owners were all on the same page about what was needed!
