If you messaged or rang me here in the last seven weeks but got no reply, I didn’t ignore you. I have been away engaging in the activity that makes me feel the most alive: undercover investigating an impossible story, this time physically draining, mentally tortuous, away from civilisation and without my gadgets.

I will be taking two more months off social media — to consult a physician, get examined by a physiotherapist, possibly speak to a therapist, then get on with writing what is unquestionably my biggest story ever.

If we're being honest, Alex Onyia has done quite enough for Nigerian kids.

This guy singlehandedly rescued the future of more than 379,000 kids who were victims of JAMB glitches.

These students received outrageously low scores from JAMB and Alex Onyia being an expert in the field, questioned the low scores some of these kids were getting because he knows their capacity.

He called out JAMB, pushed for remarking, presented his evidence.

Eventually, JAMB conceded. The registrar apologised on live tv and blamed the mistake on server updates.

The affected sat the exam again and aced it.

That's real impact there.

That claim is completely false.

This is the full live stream of the 2026 South East Maths Olympiad Grand Finale, where the winners emerged. Our selection process was conducted publicly because we believe transparency is the best way to protect integrity.

We deliberately stream our competitions live so everyone can see how winners are determined. Our goal is simple: ensure that the right children win based on merit, not ethnicity, religion, connections or influence.

Concerned Nigerians have read your recent tweet where you said the Ministry of Education is demanding total handover of the Olympiads portfolio so they can sponsor them with government funds.

Please don’t fall for the illusion that the federal government is selling you.

They didn’t care about these Olympiads for 7 years. Now that you’ve single-handedly redefined education and put the finest brains among our teens on the global map, they suddenly want to “sponsor” everything.

Don’t let them politicize your hard work, which they will definitely do if you emotionally allow them.

They will introduce tribalism, disqualify the best students, and push incompetent ones forward just as they’ve always done.

Look at our athletes under government sponsorship. How many times have they missed international appearances?
