*New preprint* Our meta-analysis on neonate ultrasonic vocalizations (USVs) in the maternal immune activation 🐀 model revealed sex differences in USVs vary with developmental stage and are more pronounced in MIA offspring: https://t.co/eVYrBIz0Iu

1/2 CIHR is consulting the research community on improving peer review in the Project Grant competition. Webinars will explore system challenges and options such as shifting to one competition per year: https://t.co/SDYUnIyUaK
Make sure to join and share your thoughts on shifting to one competition. If they don't hear from us, this will probably go through and make the current situation look like the good old days!
Congratulations to @SaliaStephanie, @SwiftNeuroLab and @WallingNeuroLab on their new study investigating the relationships between the gut microbiome and the preclinical maternal immune activation model of autism spectrum disorder!

TSA is proud to support the @CAN_ACN's 2024 Hill Day advocating for continued investment in scientific research! Together, we’re championing the critical role of neuroscience in driving innovation and improving the health and well-being of all Canadians. #CANHillDay#CdnPoli
Thank you, @HelenaJaczek, for meeting with the @CAN_ACN team to discuss increasing support for research and innovation. Glad to count on your continued support.
Grateful to MP @LailaGoodridge for meeting the @CAN_ACN team, reinforcing commitment to research and innovation. Together, we can push the boundaries of discovery in Canada! Thank you for recognizing that Science does not have a political colour.
Delighted to meet my new MP & neighbour @marcomendicino! We talked democracy, health science, innovation, gene editing, women in STEM & 🧠 health. That’s a wrap 4 Team A at the 4th annual @CAN_ACN Hill day rep ~1000 🇨🇦neuroscientists! (Despite the pic I’m not always in the dark)
Thank you to the Associate VP @RobinCraig123 & Director of Research, Grants & Scholarships, Kristina Archibald @NSERC_CRSNG for meeting with @CAN_ACN reps to discuss the urgent need for investing in research & next generation of scientists! #CANHilllDay#CANDayonTheHill
Merci aux députés Maxime Blanchette-Joncas et Andréanne Larouche pour votre engagement et votre soutien pour la recherche scientifique au Canada #CANHillDay#neuroadvocate

How is this still even possible that in 2024, we're still debating if women should have bodily autonomy rights? Seriously, what's next? Are we going to take their voting rights away? driver's licenses? Their right to an education? Tell them how to dress? I'm so sick and tired ..

We discuss how analyzing USV call types and incorporating sex as a biological variable can enhance our understanding of neonatal ultrasonic communication, a critical early measure of social communication in preclinical models of neurodevelopmental conditions.
