When she sings she’s “coming back so strong” in The Alchemy she doesn’t mean to an old lover. She means to her old self.
She tells us throughout TTPD she tried to be someone else, and it didn’t work. Lately, she’s looked more and more like the person longtime fans first met.
And I’m not crediting a man for this change. But I am saying her partners made her feel like her authentic self was not acceptable or worthy of the type of life and love she’d been searching for.
She bolted. And it’s freedom.
This Department is of the firm belief that the Chairman’s tears became holy in the form of lyrics on a page. All that’s left behind is #1YearOfTSTTPD 🤍
Happy first birthday to the album that taught us to run with our dress unbuttoned, cry at the gym, fix him (yes, really), and do it with a broken heart.
