History has been made!

At just 17, Jiya Rai has become the first girl with autism to swim solo across the Catalina Channel in the United States, covering 34 km in 15 hours, 1 minute, and 43 seconds.

Proudly supported by HPCL, Jiya’s journey is one of courage, resilience, and inspiration. From the English Channel to the Palk Strait and now the Catalina Channel, she continues to break barriers and redefine what’s possible -dedicating her achievements to raising awareness about autism.

Congratulations Ms Jiya Rai, daughter of Madan Rai MC-At-Arms II, who made history again by winning the World Open Water Swimming Association (WOWSA) Award - 2024 in the Adaptive Performance of the Year category. She is the first Indian Open-Water Swimmer to receive this prestigious award.

The award was announced on #17Feb 25 for her indomitable swim across the #EnglishChannel on 28 Jul 24, a distance of 34 km in 17 hrs 25 min.
