A petition started by a local #interfaith group member & signed by a growing number of others eg @ERosen62 in context of Michael Gove being 'minded' to withdraw vital funding offered in July 2023 towards @IFNetUK 's work in 2023-24 but not yet given, resulting in likely imminent closure of IFN.
INTER FAITH NETWORK POTENTIAL CLOSURE: TAKING ACTION @IFNetUK is under threat of imminent closure due to potential withdrawal of Government funding for 2023-24 offered in July 2023. https://t.co/yXIPKU1frY Responding to questions about potentially helpful actions people might take across the next few days before the Board takes a final decision, you might:
*Write a letter to your MP asking them urgently to raise the issue with Rt Hon Michael Gove MP, Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities and to ask him to make available the funding offered to IFN last July.
*Write directly to Mr Gove or to Faith and Communities Minister, Baroness Scott of Bybrook
*Post on social media
*Contact the media
*Issue a statement about the situation and the importance of the Network's work for inter faith cooperation and understanding in the UK
*Write blogs and articles about the value and importance of IFN and its work and link to those on social media. (See relevant info at: https://t.co/qrNlzQdX88).
*Sign a petition started by a local inter faith practitioner earlier this month: https://t.co/6gtZTLpYMe.
Thank you.
Among the articles and statements appearing about the importance for #interfaith understanding and cooperation of the work of @IFNetUK, which is currently under threat of closure, this one from @BritishQuakers https://t.co/fskNFOXsFF
@CTBI@ChurchesEngland @luhc
Online & print Sunday @Telegraph articles this weekend draw on sections of @IFNetUK’s press release of 9 February and events of past months in a way which does not convey fully the situation faced by @ifnetuk and reasons for that. See https://t.co/6sHbfiJVXS for links to full and clear information about why IFN may shortly close without the financial support for the current financial year offered by Government in July 2023 or equivalent funds from other quarters; explanation of how and why its statement policy precludes direct comment on overseas events (the Hamas terrorist attack is cited by the ST) as explained a number of times to Government (and the ST); and its response to Mr Gove's letter about a Trustee who is a member of @MuslimCouncil
LIKELY IMMINENT CLOSURE OF @IFNetUK
The Board of @IFNetUK has, with great regret, taken an in principle decision to move towards closure of the organisation due to lack of funding. That closure will be confirmed, on 22 February unless by that time the £155,000 funding offered by the Government on 7 July 2023 for work from July 2023 to March 2024 is finally made available or other equivalent funds received. Two weeks remain to try and bring a resolution to this issue and enable IFN's work for #interfaith understanding and cooperation https://t.co/6sHbfiJVXS to continue. That work includes leading on national #InterFaithWeek which takes place each November https://t.co/luaccWExDW https://t.co/4kkH53vg1C… #interfaith #cohesion #integration
