#OnThisDay 1899 The Second Anglo-Boer War began. At least 30,000 Irishmen would serve there in 13 infantry regiments & 3 cavalry units within the British Army. Another 300 Irishmen, like John MacBride, would fight with the Boers against the British.

On the Garvaghy Road when @KNEECAPCEOL walked with @Seeleycat , giving a real lift to residents and everyone standing in solidarity
Probably the closest I’ll ever get to the band 🇮🇪
Thank you for standing with the residents when it mattered most. ✊

🚨 If anyone up at #Drumcree is missing a horse… I’ve found him outside the Cathedral in #Derry. 🐴😂
Apparently he’d had enough of listening to Jamie Bryson & Carla Lockhart and watching fellas going up the road, down the road, up the road, down the road, so he’s decided to go on a march of his own.
No band. No banner. No negotiations. Just hoofed it to Derry 😂
He can be collected at the bottom of the Little Diamond …. although, to be fair, he looks quite settled.
Please share so we can reunite him with his friends 😂🐴
