Indiana Hoosiers Vs. UCLA Bruins 9.14 Recap 🏈
Last Saturday, Indiana absolutely dominated UCLA with a 42-13 victory in the Rose Bowl. As a Hoosier supporter, this win was not just any victory—it was a monumental start to our Big Ten campaign, and we showed up in a big way.
From the first drive, Indiana set the tone. Quarterback Kurtis Rourke was phenomenal, throwing for 307 yards and four touchdowns, carving up UCLA’s defense effortlessly. Our first drive was a clean 12-play, 75-yard effort, ending with Rourke finding Miles Cross in the end zone. Shortly after, we capitalized on a fumble deep in UCLA’s territory, with Rourke hitting Ke'Shawn Williams for a 14-yard touchdown. Justice Ellison capped off a 90-yard drive to extend the lead to 21-0 before UCLA managed to squeeze in a late touchdown just before halftime.
In the second half, UCLA tried to fight back, but they were no match for our defense and relentless offense. While UCLA added a field goal to pull within 11 points, Rourke responded with another touchdown pass, putting the game out of reach. We completely outclassed them, converting nine of 12 third-downs and going 5-for-5 in the red zone. With a late surge, Indiana added two more touchdowns, including one in the final minutes, sealing the game and leaving no doubt about our superiority.
It wasn’t just about Rourke's brilliance—our defense also stepped up big. Sophomore Amare Ferrell’s interception in the fourth quarter, which led to a short scoring drive, was the final nail in UCLA’s coffin. The victory margin of 29 points was our biggest Big Ten road win since 2001, showcasing just how much of a statement game this was.
The Hoosiers are now 3-0 for the first time since 1988, and we’re playing some of our best football in years. This performance leaves us with plenty to be excited about as we move forward in the Big Ten. Go Hoosiers!
